You may remember that I did a cycle of ivf in Greece in September, but we didn't get to transfer because my specialist found another polyp. We have 5 top grade embryos on ice, and we're really happy about that. But now we have to figure out what to do with the polyp. Have made inquiries about getting it removed on the NHS - seems unlikely that this will happen before Christmas. I could get it done via my clinic in Greece, in November, but this would mean a crazy flight over there and back during term time...i.e. fly out on Friday morning, have polyp removed on Saturday, fly back Monday, teach on Tuesday...crazy.
What to do? I was hoping for a transfer at Christmas, but if I can't get the operation done beforehand, then I'll have to wait until at least March (simply can't get away from work until then). I don't trust the NHS practitioners in my area - NE England - and I'd prefer to have my operation done in Greece, at a time when I can stay a few extra days and recover.
Unless some miracle happens, it looks like we'll have to postpone until March/April. I has taken me three years just to get to this stage of having ivf, and I've been trying with no success for 6 years now (on and off, but mostly on!). How do other people cope with all the waiting involved in this process? Sometimes I feel like I'm not even being given a chance to play the game, just being disqualified in advance...
On the upside, I suppose that after all of these dragging months and years, if I ever get to a 2ww, it will be a breeze, right? Got to stay positive

Hey, I understand how you feel. Its very frustrating knowing that you cant move onto transfer when you have some beautiful embies on ice. We had to have a hysteroscopy done in Greece and cant fault the care that I had, also did something similar to you flying in and out in quick succession however my thyroid went crazy and it was a killer waiting 5 months until it was all sorted out, we had a holiday in that time so we had something nice to focus on. Bear in mind that getting your body in tip top shape is the main thing. Has the clinic in Greece said that they would be happy for you to transfer soon after yuor OP? Id be tempted to go over there for it but its an added cost on top of treatment plus flights, accomm etc. Tough decisions however March may well seem like an age away but time will go quickly once you get Xmas out of the way!xx
Thanks Cinderella5. I’ve checked with my specialist and he’s happy for me to go ahead with the FET in the following cycle. I think I’m just really fed up with the NHS- that’s why I’m so grumpy! Maybe I’ll do the op in Greece, just for peace of mind.
That is a difficult decision. I know it's difficult to get time off teaching. How would you feel having an op then going back to work on Tuesday, would you be able to work or do you have to rest? If you would be able to cope physically and emotionally then I would say go for the op now, however, march will really fly by so I don't think waiting will be a really big deal it's not that long to go till then so if it's going to be less stress and pain for you then that can only help your treatment process. Good luck I'm sure you will do what is best for you and come out of it stronger xx
Hi Tomorrow_1. I can completely understand all your anxiety over the polyp thing, and we need everything done yesterday. However, it needs to be sorted, so try not to worry about timescales etc. Clinics over here do wind down from now over the festive period, so time to recharge your batteries to be "good to go" afterwards. Obviously, I wish you well and for a positive result. it will all fall into place I'm sure. Thinking of you. Diane
