How long does IVF take (e.g.in Scotland, UK)?

Hi girls. I wonder how many weeks should I expect to have my very first IVF treatment completed? Until Christmas holiday, it looks like I have only 7 weeks to finish off embryo transfer (Starting a first nasal spray on 1 Nov, and the last working day in my hospital is 21 Dec). Pls share ur experiences on how many week did it take.

I am really sorry but I don't understand. Do you mean that you are starting a protocol on 1st November and you want to know how long it will be until transfer?

Best to ask the clinic really as they will understand your history and what drugs you are taking.

Hi Misheel,

I would imagine they wouldn't allow you to start treatment at that time if there was any risk you wouldn't be finished by the time they close for Christmas. They wouldn't take any risks with that.

I had treatment in Scotland. The clinic wont have risked starting you if they didnt have a few days back up in case things do take a few days extra. I had mine done roughly the same time as you and I took a little longer than normal but I was around 7 weeks until embryo transfer. Good luck!xx

My protocols took 6 weeks max even with delays. Your clinic wouldn’t suggest to start if they didn’t think they’d complete it within the timeframe before the Xmas closure- my final round I had to wait and not start in November because the clinic would be closed for two weeks in December, so I ended up stating my meds on Christmas Day!
