Hi all just wondered if anyone else has been prescribed the conception pill for painful periods? I’m not 100% sure why iv been given this as I’m desperately trying to conceive, I know I can’t conceive naturally but that doesn’t stop me from trying every month! Sending baby dust to everyone xx

Conception pill
Definitely people get prescribed the pill for painful periods but I have not heard about that when ttc. I would call and check again. Make sure they understand the implications? Xx
Thank you for your reply I did think this when my gp prescribed it to me, I will go back to see my gp next week and talk to him about this as it was a trainee gp who prescribed them to me xx
Hope it goes well. Also, have they suggested any investigations for your painful periods? Something causing that could be having an impact on your fertility. I would insist that they follow that up rather than just masking the pain. It may well be that you have a medical condition which once treated will allow you to get pregnant. You will find that you have to really push on that though. Xxx
It sounds to me like you need investigating for endometriosis if you are struggling to conceive and have painful periods. This is best investigated by an exploratory laparoscopy but if you already know you can’t conceive naturally then maybe you have already had this?
Some clinics use the contraceptive pill for down regulation before an ivf cycle.
You probably need to give more detail about your particular circumstances to get more advice from the others on this forum x
Thank you for your reply Lizzielizzielizzie in 2016 I had PID I had keyhole surgery to clean my insides up and antibiotics, last year I had my tubes tested to see if they were blocked, they unblocked my tubes but suspect that they are still blocked. In 2016 once I had woken up from my operation the doctor came around to see me and told me that if I didn’t conceive within 6-12 months then they would put me through ivf (I can’t have nhs funded IVF, currently trying to appeal the decision) and if I was unsuccessful then I would need a hysterectomy (because I’m only 28 and I’m so passionate about wanting a baby) they told me that they wouldn’t give me a hysterectomy. Instead they told me to take the conception pill. xx

I was prescribed on the pill then the implant since I was 14 as my periods were bad and I missed a lot of school.
I had to take mine without having a break meaning I wouldn't have a period.
Did you tell your doctor you were trying for a baby? X
