IVF PGD

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure where to start here other than I feel as though I need to chat with people who know how this all feels. My husband and I have been backwards and forwards for the last year after being referred for ICSI. As we were about to begin we found out he has a Translocation which means we also now have to have PGD. I had a scan last week and was told they could only find 1 follicle. My world has crumbled and I feel as though I have no hope. I guess I'm hoping to find anyone who is on a similar path?? 😔

Hi Lilia, we had pgd for our daughter and although it was a long process it did work so don’t give up hope. Have you started the meds for the treatment? Look after yourself

Oh that is reassuring!! Thank you, I've met people who have done IVF but few who have done PGD & it's the added fear of the biopsy. Now I'm also terrified of no eggs xx

Sorry, no I haven't started yet so I'm praying that will make a difference x

You only need one good egg, it’s a bonkers process but so amazing. When our daughter was a five day embryo she was frozen for six months before the made the testing equipment. We are doing another round (a last hurrah) so about to start again and my amh is low so feel your pain. We can only do what we can do and looking after yourself and doing something that you find relaxing is so important. Have you started meds yet? Fingers crossed for you. X

I'm trying to hold on to the one good egg thing 😂 it's the freezing that scares me if they fertilise I feel like I want it in as quick as possible.

Would you mind if I ask what your AMH is?

I am due to start meds in 2 or 3 weeks just waiting for the consultant to write our protocol and then next cycle xx

Our little

Girl was frozen for six months and is a healthy energetic bundle so don’t worry about the freezing, they need to do what they need to do.

My amh is 2.6 but I’m trying not to google too much! Meds being delivered Friday the. I start the week after! Eeek. X

Hi and welcome 😊

You've come to the right place

Hopefully we can help and support you.

I don't know about translocation but hahave just had a quick read online so I can't advise on that.

Have you got another scan booked soon and are you on any medication?

I can understand why you're feeling like this.

You're not alone, reach out to us anytime you need.

Xxx

Thank you so much, it feels so much better knowing there are people out there. I'm desperately trying to keep healthy and stress free but it's hard.

I am due to start in a couple of weeks and haven't got my protocol delivered yet xx

It does help. This forum is a lifeline for me. Such much info from people who have had experiences.

It sure is, you'll have ups and downs for sure but just take it day by day.

Ah ok, hopefully you'll have the plan soon. Xxx

Yes fingers crossed. The last time I was scanned 4 months ago I had 4 follicles so it was a bit of a shock this time. Xx

Bless you that would have been a shock but don't concentrate on that or you will feel more stressed.

Welcome. So sorry that you have this news. But hopefully it will be the answer. I don't know about pgd but from the other comments it sounds like it takes time.

With regards to the low follicle count, you could try 3 months of dhea and ubiquinol supplements along with a healthy diet. This makes the eggs as strong as possible. More and more these days they are doing long natural cycles where they extract eggs over a period of time to have a number to choose from. Perhaps they will suggest this for you.

Good luck and please do lean on us. Ask any questions you like.

Hugs xxx

I’ve had ivf pgd which was successful in that I’m now pregnant. (Four years after starting to try for a family) My story is in my previous posts. If you are on Facebook I also recommend the Balanced translocation support group- it’s an international group though lots of people are from the USA.

If you are having treatment at the main hospital in London where pgd is done (we aren’t meant to name clinics) then there is also a Facebook support group for that group of people. I’m in the group but actually took my funding at a private clinic.

I was 39 at the time of my successful treatment cycle and I took ubiquinol and pregnacare max for several months beforehand. I also made hubbie take condensyl as we figured that, with the translocation, he needed his normal sperm to be super sperm if possible! I would recommend these supplements. I also switched to paraben and phthalate free beauty products and tried to eat lots more organic.

Oh congratulations that's amazing! I will find those groups thank you. In NHS but not in London at a private clinic also. I have never heard of the tablets you mentioned so I'll have a read up on those too! Unfortunately hubbies sperm is not spot on either so maybe that could help, thank you so much xx

Condensyl has its own website, it’s expensive but I thought worth it.

Ubiquinol I got from amazon.

Pregnacare max was recommended by my consultant, make sure you get it on 3 for 2 as it’s the most expensive pregnacare! I used it as my preconception vitamin so no need for additional folic acid or vitamin d. Good luck xx
