I’m back! 2nd cycle Coming up, need your feedback on acupuncture? Xx 😘

Hi everyone I’m back, I came on here 5 months ago while going through my first Cicle that sadly didn’t work.

I just thought I would say hello again as I’m now on my 2nd cycle and due to go in for egg collection in 3 weeks.

I’ve been eating healthy, no drinking, exercising, all the things I’m guessing you are told to do.

I had acupuncture today as was recommended to do it by a Friend. It felt weird and not meant to have a few more before I go in, just wanted to ask your opinions on it? Am I wasting my money or is it actually good for you? I’ve been suffering with bad migrains this time round with the injections so just thought anything to help and hopefully get me pregnant this time round 🙏🙏.

Any reply’s would be hugely appreciated as I’m a nervous like so and so at the min. Enjoy your weekends x

Welcome back!

I have acupuncture. I don't care if proven or not in general, but for me it definitely calms me down. So personally I am going to continue

Good luck with your round xx

There have been some recent articles which say there is no evidence that helps, however my view is that anything which makes you feel calmer and more relaxed has got to be good and help the process. And if it helps your migraines too then that's a bonus! Best wishes for your next cycle xx

I’ve had 4 cycles, 2 with acupuncture and 2 without. I’ve always had markedly better results in terms of number of eggs/follicles with acupuncture. It may be coincidence but I enjoy it simply for the relaxing element. I’m usually someone who needs facts and evidence but with acupuncture I’m happy to just go with it.

I've been having acupuncture for the last 6 weeks in preparation for our next cycle which started yesterday. Obviously too early to tell if it's helped but I have noticed lighter periods which is great as I have always had a very heavy flow.

Think prices can vary drastically. The lady I'm seeing in Essex is very reasonable so I do not feel like I'm wasting money. I found one that was more than double the cost I'm paying per session. Also she said she doesn't need to see me every week so go approx every 10 days to fit in around my cycles. Best of luck with your 2nd cycle xx

Oh thank you so much where in Essex hun? I had my first accupunture in Buckhurst Hill yesterday, yes it’s pricey. I’ve only just started my acupuncture yesterday and I’m 3 weeks away from egg collection maybe I’ve left it to late, the lady said it will still count but of course she’s going to say that. Any tips much appreciate and where u have been going xxx

I see a lady who lives out in rural Essex, not far from Braintree. It's just at her house. Try not to worry about only just starting. A couple of sessions may help and my acupuncturist is keen to see me in between my scans and work on whichever ovary is falling behind. Xx

Thanks so much, I’m only 3 weeks away from my egg collection do you think maybe I’ve left it go late to start the accupunture and I should have started earlier? X

I don't think it's ever too late to start if you think it will help to keep you calm and relaxed x

I started acupuncture as I'm terrified of needles and knew that there would be loads during IVF - I'm really used to then now so it has really helped in that respect.

I find acupuncture really relaxing and combine it with a hypnotherapy meditation- I honestly come out of an hour's session feeling like I've had 8 hours sleep.

Best of luck with your treatment x

I'm 25 weeks now after successful IVF that I paired with acupuncture! I think it really helps to calm and balance the system, but I would recommend finding an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility treatment! Sending you best of wishes on your journey! <3 <3 <3

I did acupuncture during my last cycle. Unfortunately the cycle failed but I did feel like acupuncture helped me to reduce anxiety. I can’t say I enjoyed having needles stuck in my body especially that those on my feel always hurt at first. This time round I won’t be having any acupuncture as the cycle costs us £10k so I really can’t afford any extras. I would say, try it if you haven’t before and see if this is for you. It might help with headaches. Good luck x

I know acupuncture is one of the few alternative treatments the NHS support for various things including fertility. I've not read any studies but I've had acupuncture and on my first IVF round. I'm feeling positive and going for embryo transfer. I'm not how they can ever say if a cycle has been successful because of the acupuncture but its helped me relax and focus and now I feel like I'm doing everything I can do. So if its psychological or not I don't care to me its definitely worth a shot. Already spending an arm and a leg so a few more £££s is worth it xx

I'm a real advocate for acupuncture! I have had 4 sessions so far, which I began about 6 weeks before my egg collection is due; and I think it is really helping to balance me. I had a strange, but wonderful experience the first time which I completely did not expect...the needle went into my 'heart centre' (I think that's what they call it, it's a point on the wrist) and I felt instantly all warm going up through my body in a really comforting way, and then I immediately cried! It was so bizarre! But in a good way! (and this was before I'd started my down regulation drugs - so I couldn't blame the meds!!). Anyway, this was a totally lovely experience, and although I find it very different to reflexology which I had on my previous cycle, I can tell that there is definitely something good happening. If you can find an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility, and most importantly who you trust and feel at ease with, then I would say go for it if you can! Even a few sessions will certainly help I'm sure. Good luck! xx

I’m going to carry on a couple of more sessions before egg collection.

May I ask what was reflexology like? As been thinking of that too. Thank you x
