Egg collection

So I had my egg collection yesterday. We got 3 eggs which I’m trying desperately not to be disappointed with. Had a bit of a rough time as had some internal bleeding during and after which I think is making my recovery a bit slower. My doctor said he might need to do a 2 day transfer, depending on what’s fertilized (he’s doing ICSI despite no male factor as it doesn’t cost more here) and if they look ok. Is this normal? I’ve never heard of a 2 day transfer?

Hey hun sorry you had such a rough time with your egg collection. I myself didn't have a good experience so I opted for an anethetist to be there next time so I'm not bloody awake like a was last time. I think they would be doing a 2 day transfer as you didn't have many eggs, and if only 1 fertilised they probably wanna get it back in your womb where it belongs asap it only takes 1 my dear my friend had a 3 day transfer as she only had 3 fertilised and the other 2 arrested so they wanted it back in her asap! She has a lovely 4 year old boy now 😁 best of luck hun fingers crossed! Have they rung you today to give you an update? Xx

Oh and I think a lady on here posted the other day they had a 2 day transfer. Doesn't happen often but it does happen xxx

I was under general anesthesia already thankfully so they didn’t have to do it when the bleeding started. Had some bleeding after as well so they kept me in for 6 hours to make sure it was under control.

No not yet! The wait is killing me. Have called twice and they said they will call back.

Arrrgh that's so annoying!! My clinic said I would get a call at 9am when I didn't I called at 9.05am and spoke to them. Gosh that's not good on them they know you are waiting and no doubt on edge! Well I guess no news is good? I hope you hear from them soon ya poor thing! Xx

We got two fertilized! They said they’re still watching the third but not looking good. I’m so relieved. Now we wait to hear how they are doing. X

Oh thata fantastic 2 out of 3 aint bad! 😉 so will they update you on day 3 and possibly do a 3 day transfer or still aiming for 2day? You must be relieved! 😁😘

He said he’d prefer day three but would let me know tonight. I’m so so relieved, was terrified we’d gone through all this for nothing x

Yep we’re agreed on putting both in. Would be great to have the third to freeze but it will be ok if we can’t. I feel so much happier now-my cats just got the biggest squeeze and are looking at me like I’m crazy!

my sister in law had 3 eggs, icsi, 3 fertilised, a 2 day transfer (2 embryos) and now has a 2 year old! It only takes 1... she was 37 at the time too. Best of luck to you xxx

I had a 2 day transfer, as we only had the one fertilised egg. It worked for me! I’m now 14 weeks. Good luck and hope you recover soon xx

Hi Claireyana, sorry to hear it’s been a tough few days for you. Good luck with the recovery. Great news that you got 3 eggs, don’t be disappointed 😊 With low egg numbers they prefer to do transfer at 2 days to increase the chances. The way it was explained to me is that they expect 2/3 to fertilise & 1/3 will make blastocyst stage (day 5) so to increase your chances they transfer at day 2. It’s really a numbers game, the more eggs the better! Wishing you the very best of luck! 🤞
