Hi

I’m in the same position as you, 38, low amh but been trying for 3years. Started our ivf journey 12days ago with the down reg meds. I’m always willing to answer any questions if I can. I was scared before I started as it was the unknown now I’m just taking every day, one day at a time and trying not to stress out. 👍🏻😀 xx

Hi I am same age, my amh was 5.8 how low is yours? Don’t be afraid I have been on your journey and like everyone else said we are all here to help. Lots of positive stories and outcomes also! Excellent that you had accupuncture I would also recommend fertility reflexology I found it much more relaxing and can really help alongside the IVF. Xx

Hi! I was exactly the same, so scared! Write down any questions you think of between know and then as in the appt your mind may go blank. Dont be scared to ask them to repeat things, i found they spoke alot of jargon in my 1st appt like i should just know what they were talking about. And most importantly tale 1 day at a time, try not to think of the whole journey, its daunting, just focus on today, then tomorrow etc, i felt this helped with meds and appointments.

Good luck! You'll be ok xx

Hi Maroon12! I was in exactly the same position as you a year ago. I was 38 too (39 now!) AMH < 0.4. I was allowed 1 IVF cycle which started back in Feb. Here we are now 26 weeks pregnant, something we didn't dare imagine! I always found good advice on here, take it one step at a time etc. I did a lot of my own research that helped us to ask the right questions at the clinic (i.e most applicable to our circumstances). Good advice from LauM - take a notebook and write your questions down, and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. Don't lose hope! Low AMH is not necessarily the end of the world. You will likely produce fewer eggs through IVF (we only got 2!) but if those eggs are reasonable or good quality you have as much chance as anyone. Its quite a tough thing to go through physically and emotionally so my advice is to be kind to yourself and do whatever you can to make life easier at this time. Very best of luck! Xx

Hi Jomcg, those are such inspiring news and you gave me so much hope!! Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

I’m 36 and AMH is 1.1, in March I was told that I’d better do donor eggs but foi h for a second opinion at a different hospital in November as the first one was really unprofessional. Reading that you had IVF with your own eggs just gave me hope that I might still got this and I might be able to use my own!

Did you go through the NHS? X

Aw thank you so much! It really does feel unreal. Honestly I felt the same like we'd have little or no chance with low AMH - what I didn't know then is that there's a lot of unknown factors at work they can't test for. We went through the NHS but were only given 1 round, "for psychological reasons" that always riles me! But then as we progressed I responded better than they thought to the drugs, (max dose of menopur) and were extremely lucky as we actually got 2 good quality eggs. There's so many stories on here of women who have a low number of eggs but the quality turns out to still be good. Thats the most important thing by far! We had already made our own enquiries with donor eggs, and I was quite happy to do that but yes it's well worth having a go with your own eggs. You simply don't know how things will turn out, and if i was to do it again I might well go for a clinic that was more positive in their outlook. We had to fight every single step of the way to even get the 1 round, and I know now some clinics are far more optimistic in their outlook for low AMH! Xx
