I honestly can't decide whether to have accupuncture during the ivf and before/after treatment. It's just more money. Any thoughts?

Acupuncture during ivf yes or no is it just another expense
For me, I find it very relaxing and anything that relaxes can only be good. Have you had it before?
Hiya yeh I've had it for a month before coming to Spain. It's just sooo expensive for another 3 or 4 goes. The medicines were meant to be around £1000 we are already at £1400 with more to buy. I don't want to regret not doing it but just feels like money's going out everywhere xxx
It definitely feels that way. Money hemmoraging all over the place. When I went to Barcelona I had acupuncture before and after. It was quite pricey over there - €70 per go. But I guess a splash in the ocean compared to the other costs...
If I was going again I wouldn't do it - and from what I have read I cannot find any proof that it does actually work. My consultant also said he didn't believe it made any difference, and research backs this up.
I would consider possibly doing it for relaxation - but I find it more relaxing not handing out money each week tbh! 🤣
Everyone feels differently about this though so make a decision that feels right for you - my consultant said if I believe it works then do it!
But....I personally don't believe it makes any difference.....
Xxx
Hi Claire I done acupuncture during my fresh transfer, I found it very relaxing throughout the whole process but unfortunately it ended in bfn.
I have decided not to do it during my fet instead am trying the mindful ivf app and using reading to relax.
Good luck 😉 xx
Hi , I done acupuncture weekly for a bit before starting ivf and then stoped a couple of weeks after egg transfer ... not sure if it helped but I fell pregnant and currently 10 weeks ! Good luck xx
I’ve done Acupunture 3/4 cycles, 2 BFPs and 1 BFN (1 bfn without Acupunture to) I personally find it relaxing and have done it again for this cycle which I’m currently in the tww but I know it’s not for everyone. If you haven’t tried it before it’s something I’d definitely give a go, even if you just have the before and after sessions xx
I did acupuncture but gave up about 6 months before our first ivf and did reflexology instead, more because it was cheaper, better value for money and sorted my hormones/emotions. Our consultant told us acupuncture does nothing for ivf success - I don't think the reflexology did much for it but I was an emotional wreck before doing it and now the most chilled person ever! We've done 2 icsi cycles and got bfp both times. I don't know anyone who's had success with acupuncture - my sister did it the whole way through 2 x ivf and got bfns both times. If you want to try it, go for it but I think it's like anything in ivf/fertility - they do really prey on your weakness. My acupuncture practitioner was always block booking me in which really annoyed me cos I really couldn't afford it. That's why I chose to do reflexology instead xx
I have my first appointment this Saturday 1st September in hope that it relaxes me. Good luck either way xxx
I found if relaxing but never helped through ivf as done this through ivf and failed I just think eating healthy and looking after your self good luck Hun xx
If you do it, consider taking out a healthcare cash back plan so you can claim back some of the cost.
It is very expensive - I had it for my first round and personally didn't really find it relaxing, probably because I was in a treatment room next to reception and the walls in the treatment room were thin so I just ended up listening to everyone talking in reception.
I found that having a relaxing massage was much more beneficial to my body and mind at that time ( and cheaper too).
I've heard great things about reflexology too.
Hopefully you'll find whichever is best to help get you through all the ivf stress
Can't believe how stressful it is and stress does impact you so it is important to find something that helps
Take care xxx
I paid £300 for acupuncture. It was £15 a session in the womans house. She also works in the fertility hospital so it was cheaper to have it at hers instead of the hospital. I had it a day after a double ET too and both failed to implant. Im not going to have it this time. Im going to spend my money on an endo scratch instead and see if that works. I agree though with lizzielizzielizzie about joining a medical scheme. Im in Medicash with work and upped my cover to something like £11 a month and got all my acupuncture costs reimbursed. I cant see the harm in trying it. X
Hi
I've been having acupuncture for my last failed ISCI and my next round coming up. There is evidence that it alters blood flow to the pelvic organs but wether that leads to increased success rates is up for debate. I have a blood condition and because of that my consultant said it may be helpful for someone like me. I do find in relaxing. If it doesn't work again i'm going to give it up. Totted up the costs of add ons, vitamins and acupuncture yesterday and it comes to around 2K. Makes me feel a bit sick thinking about it, x
I totally hear u. Our add ons are at £2000 with vitamins meds etc and there's still more meds to buy 🤦♀️ Worth it if it works though. Goooood luck for your next round. U starting soon xxx
Mid to end of sept. Not excited or scared just very indifferent to it this time. Just going through the motions but feel it’s unlikely to work. Are you mid cycle ?xx
