I have endometriosis on my left ovary and because of its position they won’t be able to access it for IVF. So it’s only my right ovary that they will be using, however, on the last scan they said it looks like it’s starting to be/is PCOS. So they have to be careful with over stimulation.
Just wondered if other people with only one ovary in play had success stories or any advice/tips.
Thanks xx

Have you thought about having surgery to have the Endo removed so they can access your other ovary? it was recommended to me when I had an Endo cyst which was found and I had a laparoscopy to remove the cyst and endo to improve my chances for ivf. Claire
There was talk of surgery but even then they said there was no guarantee. Because of the ovary being stuck behind and to my bowel. Could cause more problems doing the surgery and delay starting ivf even longer.
I've just had my first cycle with only one accessible ovary. Very similar situation, the left is buried and stuck to bowel, they couldn't access it and the right had a cyst on it. They managed to stimulate it to get enough eggs and I'm now in the 2ww. Not exactly a full success story but I'm hopeful!
On my initial consultation they told me my left ovary was inaccessible as it was stuck behind womb and i had 'kissing' ovaries. I've had 2 freeze all IVF cycles and they managed to get at least one egg from my left ovary each time which they initially said they couldn't. The egg collection team are really good and can manipulate your tummy while you're under sedation if they think that access may be possible but obviously they won't put your safety at risk. I've learnt that with fertility some of the 'impossible' becomes 'possible' so please don't lose hope if you're right ovary is stimulated and you produce a decent number of eggs that will put you in good stead and see the left as a bonus if they do manage to get something. I have severe endo and am having FET soon as i've just had a laparoscopy by a endo specialist. Good luck!
