3 day vs 5 day transfer

So 3 months after our loss we finally had our consultation to try and find out what happened and what our next plan of action is going to be. Although we weren’t given any reason why our last cycle ended in miscarriage I felt better just going through what happened step by step. My cycle went according to plan and I responded well to the injections, got a good number of eggs and a good number fertilised. So I am hopeful that next time will be our time. We discussed maybe having 2 embryos transferred on day 3 instead of 1 embryo transferred on day 5. I felt more hopeful when I left the hospital and I’m going to take some time before trying again. My question to you lovely ladies though is what’s you’re experience with 3 day transfer vs 5 day transfer?

Hi beauty1984. All I can say o this, is that years ago we did Day 3 transfers as we didn't have the expertise to do Day 5 transfers. We still had many successes, and sometimes a slow growing embryo is happier where it belongs, inside you. Hope all goes well when you next try. Diane

Thank you Diane, it does seem that our embryos start off well but then as it gets to day five they are only average quality so I think day 3 might suit us 🤞🏻

Was just having a quick browse and saw this. Our transfer was a day 3 as we only had 1 egg that matured out of 6. They didn't want to wait till day 5. That little egg is now at 19 weeks and still growing strong. I'm so glad they took that chance as it worked for us.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you too x

Thank you for your reply 😊 I do think day 3 is the way for us 🤞🏻

Congratulations also ❤️ x

First of all so sorry for your miscarriage. I had one last year it’s devastating. It’s reassuring for you that the tests have come back normal, my consultant says we were very unlucky.

As for 3 day vs 5 day my clinic prefer to do an earlier transfer as the embryo/s are in their more natural environments and think they have a “better” chance. Although all clinics will have different views on this of course!

Good luck with your cycle it’s lovely to hear you being so positive & I truly hope you get your rainbow baby 💝 xoxo

Thank you Jess, it’s so reassuring to know what others do. I feel so much more positive about 3 day transfer and I can’t wait to start my next cycle x
