Egg collection booked

Been for my last scan today.

Trigger shot tonight and egg collection booked for Wednesday. I’m so nervous. What can I expect? Are you actualy asleep? What can I expect after? Consultant wants me to have a week off work due to the job I do. So looking forward to relaxing before the next stage hopefully

The ovitelle injection looks scary. Is it as bad as the contraption looks?

Also forgot to mention.

On today’s scan they said I had some fluid in the centre. If that’s still there come transfer day they won’t be able to do it. My eggs will be frozen and will transfer another time when the fluid has gone. Has anyone experienced this before?

I'm in the exact same position had final scan yesterday, trigger shot last night and egg collection Wednesday. They also found some fluid on my ovary and said I'm at risk of ohss and if that happens they'll have to freeze until it calms down. Good luck tomorrow xx

Good luck to you too. X

Hello! Just wanted to wish you luck! In my egg collection I was asleep, they put a canula (needle) in the back of your hand for the drugs before you lay down on the comfy bed / table (with a pillow!) All covered up and snug. Your legs will be in these crazy looking space boot stirrups which freaked me out a bit, but it's so when you are asleep then can move you to the right angle for collection. You will be in and out of there in 20mins! It's really fast. Going under sedation is bit like you've drank too much, the ceiling was spinning for a couple of seconds then I was out.

Ovitrelle - not sure if you were on Gonal F before, but this needle is slightly different, just in the way you screw on the needle. It didn't feel as sturdy, perhaps because it's a single use pen. They only give you one needle! And then you administer it the way you have been told, the full dose etc. I had to do mine at 4AM so was all fingers and thumbs but was totally fine.

Best of luck! xx

Good luck for collection. I was properly out the first two times but this time I was semi awake. I didn’t feel anything and it meant I was able to ask how many eggs we got at the end of the procedure rather than waiting for the nurse to come round and break he news after. I was bit sore for couple of days after but nothing too terrible and was back at work the next day. Hope it goes well x

I had egg collection today, in my first round of IVF. Wasn't bad at all. Was awake but with sedation, didn't feel anything. The staff were great and put me right at ease. It's a little uncomfortable now but no worse then period cramps.

I was scared to take the trigger shot as only one and didn't want to make a mistake. I twisted the needle on to the end bent and was really worried but the injection went fine.

Now just playing the waiting game to see if eggs fertilise over night!!

I had my EC a little over 3 weeks ago and I was put under sedation. Like lab-lover says below your out in over 20 minz. For me it took a little longer as they had to drain a big cyst (pcos). I came home with no pain but the next 1-2 weeks was a bit uncomfortable & the first few days it was hard to go the loo (if u know what I mean) but that’s cos your ovaries are swollen with the needle prodding then during the procedure. But it was all worth it as I got my bfp on testing day ! Good luck on your journey x

Hi, hope things are going well for you. Definitely do eat more salt and have lots of gatorade. Stay hydrated with water. Do not over-eat --eat small meals more frequently. Also do your best to sleep on your back. Once I did things, the pain after the ER started alleviating. Also try and prepare with some prune juice, too. 'Cause that will help keep things moving if you know what I mean! Having chicken soup, a heating pad and the above is really helpful. By the 4th day my crazy pain went away. (But I really think if I did things mentioned above from the beginning I would have been fine) From what I read some people can go back to work the next day. Personally I wouldnt recommend this. Some people need more time. I would give yourself three days after to take it easy and make sure you feel better, if it's possible. Hope you experience ER more positively. Good luck!
