So thank you for your comments the last week or so. They have helped me process what I and my partner want to do next following the third failed IVF cycle.
It comes down to wanting a family, starting that next stage as soon as we can...and to start living again without the black cloud of IVF hanging over us.
So we have started the process of IVF with egg donation today. It is daunting but i'm excited about what the future may hold. We have our 'implications counselling' on monday via skype. We were very lucky to get that appointment as it was the only one available until September!
We have been given the prices today, and it works out around £150 for follow up and nurse consultation, then for the IVF with donor eggs and donor medication to be 8,595 euros which converts to about £7635 in sterling. Thats not including any genetic screening for my partner, embryoscope or freezing or storing of any embryos we might be lucky enough to have after. Just seems like a lot! In people's experience going abroad and using donor eggs, does this seem about average costs??
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. Thank you for all your support. It has helped me a lot getting your comments. X

Im off to Cyprus. 4500 euros for tandem cycle so about £4000. One last time for my eggs and a donors at the same time. Just need to pay for meds which is a lot cheaper than uk and hotel and flights xx
I’m glad to hear you’ve reached a decision and are ready to move forward. I remember feeling quite empowered after we reached the same decision. It’s definitely a much more expensive treatment option. We stayed in the UK for treatment and paid 10,500. Best of luck for your implications counselling. We found it really helpful, hope you do too xx
I think I got some of the £8500 refunded (maybe £500 or £1000)as it was freezing and I had no embryos to freeze.
Really glad that you have come to a decision. My treatment in Czech Rep was 4,700 Euros, 300 Euros to freeze, approx £290 for meds and then there were a couple of scans had to have done in the UK which were £80 each, the waiting list is very short and would recommend th e clinic, they have a great success rate xx
That's great that you have been able to move forward, really pleased that you have made peace with things! It is exciting to move forward with another plan. Costs can vary depending on what country you choose to go to, some are way cheaper than others. Im having treatment in Athens ( I was around €5500 plus around £200 for drugs plus another £150 for lining check scans) and it is for example a lot cheaper than in Spain but again you need to factor in ease of getting there plus flights and accommodation etc. Just make sure that if you are comparing clinics to make sure what's included, eg drugs for donor, drugs for you, embryo freezing, frozen transfers.....Good luck with it all!xx
Good luck with your next step, it's definitely worth trying! It's true that there are more value-for-money treatments abroad and Greece is cheaper than Spain and with more experienced people than the Czechs. Cinderella5 is right about cost comparisons and travel expenses. Wish you the best!
