Can anyone explain to me the stages of the embryos, we had 6 eggs and the embryologist called me this morning and said 4 have fertilised which I was so happy about , I have my transfer booked for Tuesday but she said they won’t check them again till Tuesday, but I thought they monitored how they develop and whether they get to certain grades and then blasto?
Sorry I’m so anxious any advice would be much appreciated xxxx
My clinic only seemed to do 5 day blastocyst and anything that didn't make it to that was discarded....
But not sure if everyone operates like that...I know some ladies on here had success with 3 day transfers.

Thanks but wouldn’t that make it day 5 on Tuesday? Day 1 being today? It’s all so confusing!

Yes day 5 would be Tuesday so all sounds good.
First cycle is so hard as we didn't have a clue what was going on!
Hope you can wait patiently until Tuesday - easier said than done!

I honestly don’t know how I can wait that long!! I’ve been waiting to get it this stage for almost 5 years we’ve had so many set backs and complications, it feels almost unreal thanks for replying xxxx

The waiting is so so painful. I know how you feel.....this is the worst part honestly.....of course the TWW is also a challenge too.
Hoping for a good result for Tuesday! I am sure they are developing nicely in there for you.
So they usually check the fertilisation rate the day after egg collection. This is day 1, they are usually checked again on day 3 and then again on day 5. Most clinics like to do transfer on day 5 and only consider a day 3 transfer if there are very little embryos. On day 5 they have a better idea which embryos are in front and at blastocyst to transfer. Its an agonising wait but hang on in there!xx
Thank you, they said they won’t check till Tuesday transfer day but if I’m anxious that I can call and they will check for me, what would you do? Would u check ? I don’t know if I should just leave it till Tuesday after all I can’t change any outcome, I’m happy but so anxious as well xxx thanks for replying xxx
Hmmm my clinic actually gave me an update on day 3 so its hard to know what to do and of course would it make any difference to the outcome, probably not if they only do day 5 transfers. Im the kind of person that likes to know everything at every step....Im a bit of a nightmare so if it was me I would check. Good luck.xx
I think that for my mental health and anxiety levels I’m going to leave it till Tuesday I can’t take much more if I’m honest I’m going to enjoy this happy feeling ( for once) and wait till Tuesday !!! Thanks again xxxx
My clinic called me for 3 consecutive days and give me an update of my eggs. Only on day 4 they told me that they don't give an update on that day only to called to tell me when my appointment was for ET but different clinic work differently. If your that you should just call and see if they will be able to give you any updates. Good luck
Hi , I had my collection Monday and had a call the next day to say only 3 fertilised. I’m booked for transfer tomorrow morning .... but my clinic also don’t check them again until the morning of day 5 so I have been non stop stressing and worrying. They said if we don’t hear from them in the morning then to go in as planned but if they haven’t made it they will call us before 9.30 😨😨 good luck!! Xx
Hi MyHope, Misha on here has quite a good website - it's theduff.co.uk It might help you on some stages of the process. First rounds are always so confusing, and the clinic rarely explain anything! xx
Hey, my clinic checked the embies the day after EC to establish whether they thought they’d make it to day 5 blastocysts and then (after the news that they thought they would), they didn’t check them until day 5 - day of ET. Hopefully yours make it to day 5. Will have everything crossed for you 🤞🏼 xxx
I think some clinics are better than others for keeping you updated. My clinic gave me updates on day 2, 3 and 5 whereas my sister’s left her hanging until day 5 and essentially said no news is good news. I think the clinic will probably check them on day 2,3 and 5 to see whether they are dividing as they would expect them to do as that can also give them a clue as to the overall quality of the embryos. Good luck!
