Fast weight gain first trimester

I’ve already put on 9kgs and I’m only just 13 weeks pregnant after ivf. I am usually of normal weight and bmi

What’s going on?! Am I going to keep on ballooning? It’s really getting me down.

I haven’t been able to excersise or eat healthily as I’ve had bad sickness.

Hi good_vibes, I think if you're concerned it's best to mention it to your midwife. I'd call as soon as you can, rather than waiting until next appointment. It could be a sign of something else - best to get it checked out xx

Hey! I’m 17 weeks and have also put on weight! Didn’t help that the thought of eating vegetables made me want to vomit! Lol I’m now slowing getting my appetite back though. If you are really concerned I would maybe contact your GP maybe make a telephone app if that’s quicker see what they say xx

I’m the same. Feel like I’ve put on so much weight. But haven’t been able to exercise or eat anything other than white carbs for weeks. I’m starting to feel better this week (13 wks). Just want to be healthy for my little one. But your body is doing what it needs to do to grow your baby. I’m sure the weight gain will slow down. Our bodies do amazing things and we have to trust them.

I’ll be honest, you don’t need to eat more because your pregnant you just need to each healthier and u only need the extra calories of a banana each day. I know this from my previous pregnancy, so many of us eat for two and it’s a misconception. Chat to your midwife xx

I understand for normal BMI active gals Keeping below 300 extra calories a day is recommended. 9kg is alot and you are clearly concerned but don't worry about it. Go see your midwife. Hopefully she can support you. Nausea is awful and unfortunately alot of the remidies are high carb sugar. Can you try sliced ginger or ginger Tea to settle your tummy. I know it's a bit early but Maybe you have fluid retention which isn't helping. Your midwife can check your bloods and give advice. Hope u r feeling better soon. 😊
