Injections have begun!!

June marked 5 years since the start of our etc journey and June has now marked the start of our first IVF/ICSI cycle!

I'm on short protocol and went in yesterday for injection teach and our first injection. We've just done today's injection at home (my mum ended up doing it as my partner couldn't!) and all went well.

We're on Meriofert so have to mix the drugs up ourselves before injecting. All easy enough but I did manage to cut my finger when snapping the tip of the glass vial - that was probably the worst part of the whole thing! Honestly I'm terrified of needles and I have been fine so far to anyone worrying. The injection itself doesn't hurt but as many say there is a bit of a stinging feeling afterwards as the meds disperse, totally manageable and gone within a couple of minutes.

Last night I'm sure I was getting cramps and a headache which were gone by morning, going to see if the same happens again tonight but nothing extreme side effect wise so too worried about OHSS just yet! Just think it's good to track but also to share if any else is an over analyser like me. In a way I found the side effects reassuring as it felt like I knew the drugs were working!

I feel so over joyed to have finally made it this far and I'm just praying that things continue to work out and all goes well. Lots of positive thoughts to everyone else going through this journey too xx

Hi Bumble26. Well, you're on your way, so just wanted to wish you every success with it all. Have a look at the glass ampule and there is usually a little mark on the "neck". If it is there, then snap away from the mark and you should avoid cut fingers. Hold it with a tissue too if you want. Remember lots of the drugs you are using work on glands in the brain, hence headaches and mood swings. Hopefully they will settle down. Thinking of you. Diane
