Throbbing headaches?

Is anyone else suffering with horrendous throbbing headaches? I’m 11 weeks and 5 days and recently they’re coming on at night suddenly and it’s like my head is being hammered and face gets flushed from the pain. I can’t shift it from last night. I’ve just been using ice packs which gives temporary relief. I’m wondering if the progesterone is making it worse, taking my last suppository on Friday, hope it makes a difference 😓. I thought the nausea was bad but I can just about handle that whereas the throbbing headaches are so debilitating xxx

Hi Natalia44. It could just be down to the progesterone working on the pituitary gland in the brain, usually gives frontal headaches. Might be an idea to get your blood pressure checked with your midwife or GP. Hope you’re soon feeling better. Diane

Thanks so much Diane!! I’m stopping the pessaries on Friday and having my blood pressure checked on Monday at my 12 week scan 🙏🏼. I just took a paracetamol but I doubt it will touch the sides 😓xxx

Hi. It’s safe to take 2 paracetamol 4-6 hourly. No more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Hope that helps. Diane

Hi Natalia, firstly congratulations! I'm 11 weeks 3 days so we're in this together. I'm not getting these headaches. Could it be dehydration - are you drinking enough? Otherwise it might just be that your body doesn't need the extra progesterone any more. Hopefully they will go when you stop on friday. Good luck for your scan! Mine is not until 14th June, I guess they were busy. Finding it difficult to wait! xx

Thanks so much Sarah!! Congratulations to you too 😊 I drink tonnes of water, think it must be hormones. I’m waiting for a message from the Consultant for advice and hopefully I won’t need anymore Cyclogest. Good luck with your scan 🙏🏼😘xxx

Oh bless you. I have started to get headaches but not as painful as yours by the sounds of it but I'm a couple of weeks behind you. Hopefully it's the pessaries and you'll feel much better once you are finished. Lots of luck for the rest of your pregnancy xx

Have you tried the 4Head stick? It’s non-medicinal you just rub it on your forehead. Might take the edge off at least. Works for me but I’m not getting them as intensely as you (just 6 weeks). Hope you feel better xx
