My wife and I have been trying to conceive for over a year and are worried. I've had two sets of sperm analysis results and while the progressive and total motility were good (65% and 79%) and sperm volume figures were ok (30 million) , I saw 1% and 0% morphology in my respective samples.
My GP didn't seem to know much about this, and couldn't say whether it's a significant factor or not. Given how far below the lower reference limits my results are, I'm concerned that this morphology issue is going to prevent us from conceiving.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how significant this factor is and whether it can be improved? I've just started taking Wellman tabs.

You can try to improve your sperm by taking the vits you mentioned, stopping smoking, cutting down on alcohol, eating healthily, wearing loose boxers, no hot baths and generally keeping cool downstairs and biking is not advisable. That's probably all stating the obvious but thought I would say just in case. I really would have thought that with 2 samples then then next step would be to refer you to a fertility unit if he hasnt already done that, if he hasnt get back and ask for a referral. That's what happened for us anyway, my hubby had a very low sperm count. Best of luck!x
Thanks for replying, hope things work out for you too.
I'll see how the Wellman goes. Planning a total detox from booze and junk food, I do also cycle every day to work so might knock that on the head to see if anything changes and then review in a few months' time.
Hiya, my consultant recommended my husband taking condensyl, you can buy it online and take it for 3-4 months to get any results. And like Cinderella says lose boxers etc. no jacuzzi or saunas and eat healthy and less than half a bottle of wine per week in alcohol. Wishing u luck xx
Hi, my husband had fine motility and his amount of sperm was double the average but his morphology was only 2%. We spent 2 years with no sign of a natural pregnancy before starting IVF, they reccomended ICSI based on his results (they inject directly into the egg to help fertilisation). I’d say your doctor should be referring you to a fertility specialist and it may be you and your wife might need some help. On the plus side ours worked 1st time and I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant, out of 9 eggs that fertilised we ended up with 1 being transfered and we also have 3 on ice. I have no idea if it was just the morphology which caused us not to get pregnant or something else unknown. However even if you do need some help all is not lost. Wishing you and your wife all the best.
