Scan update

So the baby is fine but measuring 3 days behind now but has a good strong heartbeat. The sonographer said she was using the new machine for the first time today & I thought she was a bit unprofessional as she called a nurse in to show her how to trace the heartbeat & measure the CRL. She told the other staff member she had 2 measurements for the CRL & she replied don't worry about that as she will get a dating scan. I spoke to the sister afterwards & asked about the baby's measurements to which she replied we don't even worry about that unless its 2 weeks out! Is that comment correct? Why would a baby's measurements be out if it's ok?Thank you from the bottom of my heart to you that have given me support xx

Hun I'm so happy for you. My baby's measurements was 5 days behind according to mu ovulation all the way till my dating scan then the measurements were right don't worry hun measurements chop and change a few days at this point baby's position they move a lot and can be difficult. You'll get a more accurate date on your dating scan. Really glad bubu is fine

It's hard to not stress hun really is especially with losses. Hopefully this scan will have reassured you and that you will have a bit more tekacing time till your dating scan, do you know when that is yet?

Thrilled to read this lovely 😊 i’m On my way now and sick with nerves. My bubba has been measuring 3 days smaller too and it’s nothing at all to worry about. Usually the foetus is curled over in a cozy spot so it’s harder to get the reading accurate (in the words of my Consultant) so please don’t worry...they would certainly tell you if there was a problem 😘xxx

Hi, I wouldn’t worry too much it if it is only a few days out because I don’t think they are that accurate. I had two scan within a few days because of bleeding. The first scan showed we were ahead by two days and then three days later it was on track. The consultant said this is completely normal xx

They are trying to measure something that is quite small still. At that gestation 3 days might correspond to a couple of 0.1mm out. They are measuring a 3D object with a 2D picture. Sounds like you worry with weeks rather than days out. Also that early external scans can be a bit iffy.

Hope you got some reassurance from it. I had lots of extra scans to put my mind at rest. Lovely to hear the heartbeat each time x
