Hello everyone, we have a no live sperm result and my doctor has said that my OH needs to keep giving samples untill they find some as we only need 6 for our 6 donor eggs, anyone else had anything similar happen to them? Because last year he had an ok result and it has changed so dramatically she thinks it’s worth to keep trying.
Any thoughts would be welcome I’m struggling with it all, how much more can I take?
Really, seems strange! Has he been diagnosed with any issues with his sperm ie low count, morphology, motility? My husband was told to take vitamin c, zinc and selenium plus I made him take Vit e and omega 3...obviously told to not drink a lot of alcohol, don't smoke and have a bmi below 30.. Have they said why there wasn't any live sperm? Xx
Yes they think it’s due to medication he has to take because if an ongoing health issue, on the last test he had a low count but nothing like the latest results the doc said she was shocked that it’s chaged that much in a year!
Would he be able to start taking any vitamins if he's on meds? I think they need to give you some idea on anything that might help improve his situation. Like you'd try anything if there was a chance it would help! Maybe Google those vitamins that I've just said to see what they do individually and maybe phone them and ask them if it could help taking vitamins.. I know my husbands results improved after lifestyle and probably the vitamins helped too. But I don't have any knowledge of your situation.. Good luck. I hope someone might know and it can improve xx
My husband had a no sperm result last summer which was the result of him being (very) unwell a few weeks before. My eggs were frozen and we then had to wait 12 weeks before we could try again. All was well and they then froze a sample as a back up for future appointments which was just as well as he ended up with a urine infection the day before I was booked in for my second egg collection!
I was really upset at having to use the frozen sperm as it was our last attempt and I had wanted to use fresh everything but the nurse explained that sperm freezes (and thaws) really well. I had no other option than to use it and even though only 1 was suitable for transfer, I got a positive result and am anxiously waiting on my first scan x
It is an emotional rollercoaster! I definitely found it harder the 2nd time and although my husband is wonderful, he struggles to understand why I'm so emotional/irrational/frustrated...
Good luck with the rest of your journey, keep us updated x
Sorry to hear about the bump in your already stressful journey. Condensyl, fertilix and proxeed are all the main good vitamins for sperm health (he would take one, not all of them!). I think condensyl acts as a precursor for your own bodies antioxidants etc but the other two are made up of the actual vitamins and antioxidants. I find The Better Baby book by Dave Asprey very useful for info on sperm health xxx
Hi, we found out that my husband had a 0 sperm count due to a operation he had as a baby.. we saw a specialist in the U.K. as he also had a burnt out tumor on one testicle.. the specialist was fab.. not only did he confirm that my husband was well he also performed a sperm retrieval.. this was by extracting direct from the testicle and to our delight we had 7 dishes full.. we had all frozen.. unfortunately they didn’t thaw well but that doesn’t mean that others don’t...
