Tri-laminar lining - Mandatory for transfer?

Hi ladies, just a question really.

Do you have to have a tri laminar lining for a fresh or frozen embryo transfer? Or have some of you transferred without this?

Thanks x

My clinic doesn’t seem to measure this, they’ve only ever told me the thickness, nothing else. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Thanks Lizzie. When my cycle was cancelled last wk, the Dr said even though my lining had thickened it wasnt tri laminar so he made the decision to cancel it. Just trying to understand a little more about it and what you ladies have experienced. Congrats on your scan btw really great news xx

Hi Cryst I think it does need to be trilaminar. My lining is usually on the thin side and when measuring they always make a point of saying that it's triple lined, although on the thin side. The sonographer commented the other day that although thin, it looked right for my uterus and that she has seen thicker linings that look rubbish. I don't actually know what the triple lining bit means! Hopefully someone else can enlighten us😊

Hi Ash, this is what Im trying to understand, is it a must before transfer or can you just have thick lining and still transfer. I think success is supposed to be higher if tri laminar right? This is now new to me with your lining being thin but still a triple line. The joys of this journey hey 😕

Hi Cryst, that’s the most important factor. Some clinics will transfer with anything over 5mm but ONLY if healthy triple layered lining xxx

Hi Natalia oh wow ok so it really is important. I never actually asked my dr what it measured jn mm but I will ask him when I start again thank you xx

Hey, the trilaminar appearance is supposed to be an indication of a receptive lining.... as in good for embryos to want to implant in so yes it is looked upon as important. However the thickness is also a factor too and if possible both are preferred.xx

Aw ok thanks Cinderella, so having both would be ideal really. The best home for the embryo hey xx

I had a trimanilar when I had my last scan and the sonographer marked the area so the doctor would know where the best place was to implant the embryo. Xx

Yeh she marked it on the screen, I think did a print out. My lining was quite thick too, so don't know if that makes a difference. Tbh ivf is a complete blur for me, I don't understand anything. I just nod a lot and keep my fingers crossed lol. Good luck for next time xx

Aw I know, before I embarked on this journey, I didnt know much either, but I am fairly knowledgable on a fair bit, googling all the time, learning off this forum. I nod too, then go home and google it, not always a good thing but it helps my mind lol. Thank you re next cycle xx
