We have received an appt at Glasgow Royal and I’m just wondering what will happen. It says it’s just for me for bloods and swabs and to bring along info of immunisation etc. What I’m really wondering is how long do you think before the next stage....

First step??
Hi.
I've come home to a letter from GRI today and we have our first appointment in a few weeks. Not quite sure what to expect myself but thought I'd say hi since we appear to be at a similar stage.
We've had 3 unsuccessful IUI cycles so now hopefully not far off starting out IVF journey. xx
Hi buttons and Lorry. I have my appointment at GRI for ivf next Tuesday. Bloods, swabs and paperwork. I know someone who has recently had this appointment and they made the next appointment 5 weeks from last appointment. I will let you know what happens on Tuesday and get an idea of timelines as well x
Thank you. That would be so helpful.
Hey lovely, my appointment yesterday was in Glasgow Royal infirmary. They were really nice, took bloods and swabs (I did these myself) and did a test which checks if your a smoker or not. Went through a lot of paperwork and they asked us lots of questions. They made an appointment there and then for 14th June. At this appointment they said they take us through all the results which decide on exactly what type of ivf/icsi we will need. They said it could be August before I start injections etc. Where do you have your appointment? Xx
Hi, I’m so pleased your appt went well. Def seems a step further down the line for you! Our appt is 6th June so I’m chasing my gp just now for my rubella vaccination info. Did you take your other half with you? August will be here before you know it! At least you know when your next appt is too and not just waiting for a letter to drop through the door x
He didn’t need to come but he was finished work and came anyway. They asked him some questions too and he signed some stuff there. I think they need to go to next appointment definitely. It’s totally up to you what you prefer. I thought it was useful having my OH there xx
Thanks guys. We had an appt in March to meet the consultant and chat about ICSI and the clinic success rates. I got the letter on Saturday for June for blood swabs etc. It says hubby doesn’t need to go. Is there any benefit him tagging along or shall I just go shopping with my Mum before the appt 😂. Just trying to get the info from my gp regarding my vaccinations...
Hi, it’s completely up to you of course but I didn’t take mine with me, I went out with my mum before hand too. If they need him with you - they will tell you! Go shopping with your mum - enjoy and Good luck to you xxx
