I love to share tips and advice during my journey. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...
The best decision I made last round was to not be determined by IVF, but for me to determine it. Be in control and still have a life.
So, Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London... My team might have been shortlisted for an award at the event tonight... but I’ve already won. I’m injecting in your toilets! And I’m winning at IVF-ing on the go.
I daren’t do it in my first cycle; I couldn’t do anything and was late for everything! Now... I’m just carrying my fancy bag... laced with drugs. 😊

Well done! I went for a gig during my stims and asked if it’s possible to accommodate my need for injection. And it was! I was escorted from the reception to the first aid room when I had privacy to do the injection on the right time. I didn’t want to do it in a toilet. We are in control!!!
I did the same at a massive club night in Ibiza, I was given a private room (must have been a sex room as had nothing in it other than a bar, a jacuzzi and a sofa!)
This is Brilliant!! Wish I had been as confident as you, I literally panicked if I wasn’t at home and hour before meds!! You are definitely winning! Have a fantastic night xx
My life is totally boring - I had to inject in other people's spare rooms and bathrooms at family gatherings...Oh! I did have to mix my menopur in the kitchen of the village hall where I was attending 1st birthday party (rock 'n' roll, right?) because there was no room to keep it in the fridge!
Haha! I know how to live! I used to feel like a drama queen taking my meds to people's houses but I soon realised I was being silly and had no choice but to do them when required, just like you tonight. And hey! There are worse places you could be injecting...A village hall is definitely not the Grovesnor House Hotel! Hope you're having fun x
Love this emu2016 it made me smile im about to start my injections and this post has given me hope not to let IVF controll your life .. but instead control it thankyou 😘 x
Absolutely love this!!! Well done hun. I did my injections in a restaurant in London last week before heading to the theatre. Have a wonderful and well deserved evening xx
You go! Last night a hotel lobby at Wembley... tonight here! x
OMG!!! I have total bag and shoe envy!! Good on you for having your jab out and about, can’t take over your whole life! At least your doing it looking a fox!! Go get em!!! 😘😘😘
Well done you!!! I was the same - 1st cycle I wouldn't go anywhere or do anything - now - I'm "shooting up" in restaurant toilets!!! Good luck - hope this is the one that works xx
You are Amazing!!!! Well done 💪💪💪. I am trying to have the same attitude. My husband is going on a business trip next week ( he injects me, im too much of a wimp to do it myself) and I refuse to postpone this round of IVF so we making it work, im packing a bag and going with him 🤫
Yeah he knows because we were discussing delaying the treatment and then we decided we need to rather just make it work. His work wouldnt be impressed if they knew but when it comes to IVF you just gotta do what ya gotta do!!!
Haha your post is brilliant, hope you had a fabulous night, must say I lurve your shoes and handbag xxx
Ha isn’t that funny emu; my first cycle I was so careful with storing it in the fridge (mixed messages of whether I needed to etc)- but halfway through I needed to attend a funeral half way across the country- so popped them in a cool bag and had to inject in the toilets in the evening (nice large and clean thankfully! And was using the gonal f pen)
For this FET- I’m so not bothered- have tossed the cetrotide to the back of the cupboard! So laidback about it but just rewatched the YouTube video to refresh my memory... unfortunately the needle cap got stuck as I tried to remove it and accidentally pressed the plunger- and then as I pulled it back it slipped completely out! Should not have been that easy- and I spilt the solvent lol.
I’m glad you’re taking things on your stride and I concur- I’m not going to let the routine interfere as much as possible!
It was the best decision I made on our last round. So it was a no brained this time! By Sunday I’ll have injected on the go five nights in a row! No use nailing my foot to the floor now... if it works I’ll have 18 years of that! 😂 x
Ah, I'm alright. Thankyou though. It was 6 months yesterday since round 1 OTD which was our first ever BFP. Got me sad and thinking about what could have/ should have been. But I'm good. Thinking positive again for this round. It might just happen for us? We may just come out of this with a baby?! Xx hope it works for you too!! 🤞xx
A I have those moments. I think we’re either clever or crazy but I literally started this round 1 year ago to the day to the last one! So all my days this year are the same as last year... when we got BFP. And then nothing there at 7 week scan... I guess if it’s going to go wrong we may as well keep it all to one time in the year! 😂
You’re just human. It’s a big thing we’re doing. Worry and anxiousness will set in at some point xx
I think you have the best attitude! I had to do it several times myself too with my last cycle (airport toilet, university loo, restaurant restroom...). You name it I tried it lol
My first injection outside home felt a bit weird but then I got used to it. I am not saying I will do it all the time but I will not stop going to an event because of that. That’s my choice and I understand if it’s not everyone’s choice. My view is We already feel alone on the ivf journey so going out leaving a normal life alcohol free, can help us cope better.
Exactly! That’s so true! Had a change of plan tonight and I’ll be home for my injection... secretly... I’m really happy to be home for it tonight! MrEmu gives my belly a kiss after and I’ve missed that for last two nights! x
Love it! It's exactly what I was like when i was doing injections haha. I've injected pretty much everywhere - a common place seemed to be the library lol
You pesky students! 😜 Well; I think that’s what you pay your fees for right?! Amazing on campus facilities for your own medical treatment! I’ve got another two nights in London next week and one in Manchester the week after! Might have to try and find somewhere posher! 😂 x
My best place was the loos of the globe theatre in London. My worst was one of those petrol stations with a nasty loo, and I had to do three injections and one of them needed mixing! I’ve also injected in the car, in friends houses (just whipped my tummy out and injected in front of them ha ha) and in various restaurant loos. I eventually decided I was justified in using the disabled loo, it’s generally easier with more space!
How on earth did you get that injection on time at the globe! The queues are mental there! Disabled loos is such a good idea!!! I did consider a baby changing toilet on Wednesday but the irony almost killed me! xx
Well done Emu!! Love it!! I had to leave a play 20 mins in to inject in the loo then run back to my seat. I’ve also got to inject soon at a nick cave festival in a London Park! I’ll be having a FET a few days between the Rolling Stones and nick cave 👍got to keep life normal and fun!! X
