What is classed as one cycle on the NHS, we have had egg retrieval, one FET which ended in a missed miscarriage and now onto our second FET does that mean once I have had that done I have used my 2 cycles on the NHS?

No. So one cycle is stimulation, egg collection, transfer of embryo plus any frozen embyos. Your second cycle starts from stimulation etc again. Hope that helps. The rules in Scotland were changes to 3 cycles a little while back but unsure when you were originally referred....worth checking!xx
Going to Phone in the morning to check, I have another 8 in the freezer so once I have used all of the those that’s my first cycle over with, then I move onto my 2nd cycle, I was told that but in convinced myself I misheard. Again I’ll check that as I think I was referred before they changed it too 3. Thank you x
I’m not in Scotland but I have been just told that one cycle consists of, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, the freezing of any fertilised eggs and then transferring any viable fertilised eggs until you have a successful pregnancy. Of course you might run out of FETs before then but that is what we have been told is one cycle.
After that we have to pay for a second cycle. Xx
Hey I asked the embryologist when I had my first IVF/ICSI cycle what the story was back in December last year. You heard correct that each free go on Scotland NHS is based on stimulation. So your first free cycle will include transfer of your frozen embryos. You only go to your second free round once you need to stimulate again because you have no viable embryos left for transfer. As you have eight embryos sitting there fingers crossed for you and you won't ever need a second cycle!
Thanks everyone just spoke to the clinic and they have confirmed I’d heard right and agree your comments.... phew x
