In 2021 we did a round of fertility treatment on the NHS and we got 5 embryos. One of them is now my 3 yr old so we are very lucky. However we’ve had two missed miscarriages this year and now down to our last embryo. We did the last two FETs at the same clinic we had our NHS treatment but paid privately. I’m thinking about moving to a new clinic for our last attempt and looking for any recommendations?
I would also welcome any recommendations for tests we should think about getting done- they’ve been very limited to date and haven’t felt particularly tailored. I have PCOS and irregular cycle and husband was told he had quite low motility but nothing more specific.
thanks all in advance xx

Hi. I believe there is only one private clinic in Scotland. TFP GCRM in Glasgow. I also think it has a satellite clinic in Edinburgh.I haven't had treatment there only some other add on procedure. But the doctor who performed it works in the NHS fertility clinic too.
Other than the GCRM, all four NHS clinics (Glasgow Royal, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Ninewells in Dundee) offer self-funding options. Meaning you can pay them to have the exact same treatment they offer for NHS patients.
Thank you, I didn’t realise GCRM was the only private clinic. I may look at England as well so I have some more options. Thanks for taking the time to reply to me though! Hope you are making some progress with your journey.
Sorry to hear about your last couple of attempts. I’m guessing you may have already been at GRI if you’ve done NHS and private there (dep where in Scotland you are). I would say GRI is the best. They have the best results, they treat on a higher number of days than others and the best doctors. the woman I went to accupuncture for def recommends them as the best based on all the ladies she’s seen for fertility acu. Hope that helps and good luck.
Hiya, yes all my treatment to date (NHS and self funded) has been at GRI. That was successful for me as I have my 3 yr old which I am so grateful for, but have felt the two self funded FETs have not been particularly tailored and I didn’t have any review appointments or consultations - it was a case of FET worked previously so just do exactly the same as before. They didn’t renew any testing or anything and so given the two losses I’m thinking it might be worth getting another opinion before we use our last embryo. I’ll do a bit more research into other clinics in England too, but thanks for replying to me. I hope your journey is going well.
Tbh I have noticed a bit of a difference since I first had treatment with them for my 7yo. It feels busier and less personalised I agree. Having said that I was really lucky that mine worked. I was originally due to have a medicated FET but then got switched to modified natural (mainly due to availability I think) which felt a bit frustrating at the time but actually was a much easier procedure on the body. Have you tried the modified natural FET? I took progesterone up until 8 weeks after it which was yuck, but I think helps to sustain. I agree they are a bit formulaic, ans I think you may need to ask for a follow up consultation (and poss pay for it) but I would do if you’re wanting to chat through the different options or other possible plans. I’ve always found the Prof to be great and really pragmatic and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t switch to any of the other local ones over GRi though. Good luck with whatever you decide. X
That’s really interesting. I hadn’t realised until I posted here that there was only one solely private clinic in Scotland and I think you’re right that GRI has the best rep. Good advice though to sit down with the Drs there and see what they might recommend and if I’m still unsure I may look down south. It’s so difficult to know what’s best… my last two may just have been bad luck but you can’t help but wonder! I haven’t tried the modified natural FET so definitely something for me to consider! Thank you again for your replies and all the best x
