Hi ladies

I just wanted to let you know I purchased a Angelsounds Dopla I'm currently 11 weeks and waiting for my scan on 9th April. The dopla is great I bought this off eBay new for about £20 it's amazing clear and picks up the heartbeat it's good for reassurance if your an extreme worried like me. It picked it up from around week 10.

Hi there Patty how clear is the sound? Just wondering if it would work for twins. My husband asked if I wanted one as I'm so nervous of things going wrong! Did you get any gel with yours? xx

Same question about twins! X

It is low down but once found it was clear and we timed it and recorded it sounded like a steam train!!! 160 beats per min. Best £20 I spent Google it and it comes with free gel but you can use Baby oil anything eater based. Xx

I don't see why it wouldn't work with twins if you have had a scan already you might know what location to start searching in. I think hearing the sound just helps with my worrying!! Xx

Hi, I’m having twins. I got mine at about 20 weeks because when I started to feel kicks I wasn’t always sure if I could feel both babies. I’m 25 weeks now and can get both heartbeats most of the time..... I’ve never really panicked when I can’t because they do change position a lot at this point. At my 16 week check with my community midwife even she couldn’t pick up both heartbeats but wasn’t worried because we could hear lots of movements. It might get easier as they get bigger.

Also probably don’t mention your Doppler to your midwife, they go mad 😂 obviously if you’re worried about reduced movement you should go straight in regardless of the Doppler.

I bought one too and it's great for reassurance. I'm 22 weeks now so don't use if often as feeling baby moving but loved it the first trimester and still use it every few days now.

Yes I'm using it daily at the moment waiting for the 12 week scan. Thanks xx

please remember if you're not medically trained to use one, their reassurance can be dangerous. There are horror stories of pregnant ladies using these and getting false reassurance as you can pick up your own pulse via placenta. Use with caution and if you're not sure - seek professional help! go by movements not monitors. Xx

But at 11 to 12 weeks your not going to pick up movement only around 18 weeks. Heartrate was 160 mine is 80 pretty easy to work out what the baby's is. When the heart rate goes down to 120 I think it will be difficult to tell. The first few weeks are torture I can't afford a reassurance scan every week. Xx

it's completely your choice obviously, but your midwife would advise against it. They can give false reassurance when you presume everything is ok because you can hear the heartbeat. Your midwife doesn't even listen till 16 weeks because of inaccuracies. You'll feel much better after your scan. X

I had a dopla and used it often with my little girl - it gave me reassurance and i never found I mixed my heartbeat with hers as theirs is so much faster. I bled at 16 weeks at night so couldn’t get into epu until the following day but it calmed me down when I found the heartbeat and kept me feeling positive until the next morning when I had my scan.

I’m nearly 9 weeks pregnant and I will be using it again this pregnancy! Haven’t tried to look for heartbeat yet but will do in a week or so. Xxx

They say not to use it in the latter stages of pregnancy and that movements are a better indication.

I bought this Doppler for my own reassurance from 6 weeks. From 10 weeks I heard the heartbeat or maybe it was the placenta. But I didn’t care what it was as it reduced my anxiety.

In using it early, don’t freak out if you don’t hear the heartbeat every time. It’s very difficult to pick up. Think I used it daily and one day I couldn’t find it. That’s about the only danger of using it before movements are felt.

It’s cheaper than having scans! Btw you can also pay to have private scans. I had a couple as again it was good to see the bean and reduce anxiety.
