Spotting ?

Has anybody spotted on and off during their pregnancy and everything been fine with baby ? Getting concerned again as a bit of spotting has started again. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Should I go to epu or only if it turns red ?

Lots of women spot and some bleed heavier and still everything is fine. I think the general rule is that unless it’s bright red, more than spotting and is accompanied by intense cramping it’s relatively normal. I can’t advise you on whether you go to the epu or not but if you feel it will give you some reassurance than maybe it’s worth bearing in mind xx

My friend bled all the way through her pregnancy and her daughter turns three next month. She did go to epu a fair few times but in her area you have to be referred by gp or midwife so that’s who she contacted first xx

Thank you Tugsgirl and Lizzielizzielizzie for your replies. Sorry to keep writing on here but dont know who els to ask. I finally seem to relax and then this has happened and sent me into a panic again. Such a emotional rollercoaster. It is Good to know people can spot and no harm to baby is caused but I can' help but worry. I will keep an eye on it today and if it goes red I think I will go over epu just in ase after the history with my last bfp. X

That sounds like a sensible plan. Hopefully you won’t have any more though 🤞 xx

Are there any other symptoms to go with the spotting? Xx

No pain at all just a few aches but that could be just things moving and stretching.

That's definitely true, how long have you been spotting for? I would phone EPU just to get some reassurance. Have you had a scan yet? I know it's early but sometimes EPU do them early xx

It has stopped thank goodness. I spotted for about 4 days then nothing for a week and then started again today but it has stopped now. Wondering if it was just left over from implantation. Hoping it won't return now ..Thank you for your advice xx

Hi lovely, I spotted at the same time and was told it was likely an implantation bleed. I’ve just had a 9 week scan and there is a bruise in my uterus which hasn’t quite healed yet which they said is the implantation site. Also said it could spot again as it’s not yet fully healed. As with others I think unless it’s red/ cramping you are most likely absolutely fine. Completely understandable to worry though! xx

i spotted until about 12weeks, never found the cause but now all good and only 6weeks away from due date. Definitely worth ringing epu/fertility clinic even if just to put your mind at rest x

I spotted from 5 weeks to about 9 or 10. It was really aweful. Went to the emergency room several times and all they could say was there is nothing we can do for you and ofcourse just offer me a scan to reassure me that babies were still okay. But at some point I was prescribed PIO shots which seemed to help with the bleeding and spotting.
