Pain after failed ivf..

Hello ladies,

Wondering if anyone could help.. We had our first ivf fail about 3 weeks ago, I bled heavily (no clots) before I was even due to test and it lasted around 5-6 days.. I’ve had quite a lot of pain on my left side ever since and this is getting a lot worse as the days go by.. My period is due this Friday so I’m thinking it could be due to that.. Is it normal to have a painful cycle following failed ivf? Every now and then I experience mid cycle pain but this is real!! Xxx

HI jendobson, I had a horrible bleed after our failed cycle last November - lasted five days and then had a fairly short cycle (compared to my usual). Having had painful periods when I was younger, that one was a very uncomfortable pain and checked with my GP if I could take slightly stronger painkillers that I had for something else. Possibly could've coped physically with lots of hot water bottles and paracetamol but mentally couldn't cope with this bleed.

Like I said, the next one came a bit sooner for me and was more like a normal period for me. If you have any niggles or concerns - if this is different from normal, please phone either your clinic or GP and they'll hopefully be able to advise you.

Thank you snowy76.. I am due on at the end of the week so hoping it’s just the build up to that, just seems weird I’ve had the pain ever since my last bleed (so for 3 weeks, pretty constant!)..

I’m not one to take lots of painkillers as I feel I’d be on them all the time but have been with this..

I’ll call the clinic tomorrow if it’s still no better! Xx
