Hello, I am, after two failed IUI attempts, now researching and trying to understand what I'll be likely to expect in IVF. Can anyone share information on what a blastocyst is? My clinic charges an additional £800 for it and I'm not entirely sure what it is. Thanks

Blastocyst
Hey, it means that rather than grow embryos created to day 3, they will grow them for 2 more days to blastocyst stage which is a day 5 embryo. Xx
Okay, thank you. So if they are 5 days old they have to have been blastocyst, if they're younger they're not blastocyst and not thought to be as likely to survive. Do you know what the percentage rate increase is to have a blastocyst? I'll read your article now so if you've answered these questions in your article I'll find out. Thank you for helping me xx
Are you set on that specific clinic? Our clinic based it on how the embryos were doing, rather than how much money we paid... but then we did a package deal so maybe that’s the difference.
Have you looked into access fertility? They have refund programmes for if you don’t manage to have a live birth.
Good luck! X
