Hi there, official advice is to eat a healthy diet. My consultant advised me to eat organic as much as possible and to avoid added sugar. Avoid white rice/bread/pasta and go for wholemeal/brown options. She also advised me to eat nutritious meals I had cooked myself and to avoid processed foods. For my second IVF round, I decided to take it a step further and had read good things about high protein/low carb diet. I did this and my egg quality was much better this time (but this could also have been the change in protocol or just luck). On this eating plan you are allowed a portion of carbs per day. I usually had muesli for breakfast, so that would be my carbs. I didn’t restrict fruit and veg (other than potatoes) as we need all the nutrients and our bodies need some carbs, but avoided rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, noodles etc. I eat a shed load of eggs, cheese, houmous, lentils, chicken and fish. It has worked, so far, and am trying to stick to it through the first trimester, but am listening to my body and have a few carbs if that is all I feel like. I also cut out caffeine and alcohol and have drunk loads of water and whole milk.I think it is just trying to eat as healthily as you can and working out what feels ok for you. Good luck! xxx
Thank you for your reply, that’s really helpful. I’ve Ben trying to eat healthy for a long time but just wanted to see if there was anything more I could do. Think I might cut down on the carbs as I eat a lot of rice/potatoes. Thanks again and hope all goes well for you xx
