I’m so mad at myself

I went in for my baseline scan this morning and got Menopur to start stimms tomorrow. And tonight, I wasn’t thinking and injected Menopur TONIGHt. So I’ve basically started a day early.

😫😤😭

I can’t believe I did this. I called the clinic after hours number and she said it was okay, but now I just feel anxious and angry and worried that I’ve screwed this all up.

Please share your stories if you’ve done anything like this - I need reassurance right now.😔

I didn’t do this but with my first Menopur injection I didn’t dilute it properly with enough solution - I panicked but everything was ok in the end! If the clinic said don’t worry then take there word they know what they’re talking about x

Hi abcgirl thats weird cos on this cycle I am certain I started my menopur injections the same day as my baseline scan. So basically I think you have absolutely nothing to worry about! 😊 they stimms results are all dependent on how long your follicles take to get to the right size so really the worst that can happen is this might be a day earlier, which might be a good thing. Am sure it'll be fine x

I hope I just know my clinic does collections only on mon, wed and friday so I think that’s why. Hence by starting a day early i might have screwed up their schedule. But either way that makes me feel better. 🙏 thank you

They can coast you for a day or up your stims for a day if you look like you’re going to be “cooked” on the wrong day. You’ll be fine.

Hey abcgirl, its so stressful when u make a mistake. We injected one of ours wrong too in that not enough of the solution went in, was quite distressing but turned out not to mak a difference! Like Shanks said, if the clinic said not to worry then im sure you'll be fine. They would tell you if you needed to do anything differently! Sending best wishes for a successful cycle xx

Thank you. They said they’d call tomorrow when they go over my notes. So I’m hoping it okay. I panicked but I don’t think it’ll be that big of a deal I’m just so mad that after all this waiting and trying to do everything right I’ve done this without even thinking or double checking . And it’s not my first time either so I should know better.

It's such a high stress situation, we are bound to make mistakes! You arent the first and wont be the last! You've done the right thing and let them know quickly! Im sure they will advise u if anything needs to change but im sure it will be fine xx

Don’t beat yourself up. At one point I was taking buserelin, bemfola and menopur and I used the wrong syringe for the menopur. Then spent the next 30mins searching through the recycling bin outside to work out how much solvent the menopur was diluted in to then calculate the no of units per ml to work out how much I gave myself. Told the clinic doctor- it was a very similar dose in the end but I remember being so annoyed with myself. We’re human- it happens.

Try not to worry you are definitely not the first person to mix it up. the clinic will be able to put your dose up and down according to your response- I thought I would have my collection on a Friday but I wasn’t quite ready so they adjusted my meds to fit with a Monday collection. Good luck!

I hope your ok. I know it's stressful when a mistake is made but don't beat yourself up there is so much to remember. I hope your clinic call you back again tomorrow and put your mind completely at rest xx

Hi Ancgirl

During my third cycle my partner gave me the wrong injection - I think it was busarekin instead of menopur. It was the only cycle that worked!

I really think there are no reason to be worried about.

Good luck and baby dust xx

Thanks for all the replies. The clinic said they’d work around it and that it’s fine. Didn’t sound too pleased though. I just can’t help think that if this doesn’t work out (ie I don’t get mature eggs or they are overly mature or they don’t fertilise) that it was because of this mistake with the timing.

Self compassion and forgiving myself is sooooo hard 😔

Honestly it will be fine, I’ve started on the day of my scan before and the day after, they can just play about with it, and alter your drugs as you go so please don’t beat yourself up over this. Why do they only do collections on those days? That seems so random! Xx

Not sure they do collections M, W, F and transfers on Tues, Thurs, Sat. Hope they can accommodate... I’ll see. Thank you for your encouraging words

My clinic also work like this (maybe we are at the same one?!) I think it is due to very limited theatre/clinic space and to make the most of the staff. They also don’t scan everyday which I think ensures doctors are available to discuss scans in the planning meetings after scans rather than being tied up in theatre. The egg collection days are also timed to ensure you don’t end up with embryos needing transfer on a Sunday when the clinic is not open. It’s all very logistical!

It works though, and they just adjust your meds dosages to fit in.

Try not to be hard on yourself about this. I’m sure most of us have made a bit of a blunder at some point when it comes to injections and medication. I know I have. Don’t worry too much about the clinic’s reaction, I’m sure it’s not the first or last time they’ve had to change their schedule around a wee bit. You take care and very best of luck with the rest of your Menopur jabs xx

I am sorry to hear about all the mess. What did your doctors exactly said about this? Can I share my problem? I want to know the after effects of C-section. I heard that it leaves a long-lasting effecting. One more question. What are the causes of non-pregnancy with PCO’s. Please help me finding the answers. Love you. TIA. Btw I hope you become healthy soon. I wish you all the best. take care of your diet and health.
