First (tiny) Step, Taken...

Hi All! I am new here :)

My name is Sarah; from Cheshire, and am 34 next week!

I have been referred by my GP to the hospital in regards to IVF (16th Jan), and am just waiting now for a letter from them listing a number of hospitals where I can have the 'treatment' then I will need to make my own appointment; (As informed by Triage yesterday, when I gave them a little friendly chase-up/update).

Basically, I have no children, but have had an ectopic pregnancy a good few years ago, which I left far too long before finally going to the hospital. I'll spare the gorey details, but in effect, my right tube had to be completely removed along with a 7.2cm 'growth'. :( The other tube doesn't work either.

Very upsetting situation, to say the least, but there is hope for the future. I'm glad I have finally made the first step, but I am very anxious and a tad scared of both the physical and emotional pain to come.

This may sound really silly, but I am really getting myself worked up over the injections I may need to do myself! I know it will all be worth it, but EEK!

PS: I am so glad to have found this! What a great support for people going through similar issues.

Thanks

Well done for taking the first step, that ones always the hardest! This forum is amazing and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support for everyone. Sorry to read about all you’ve already been through, I hope your letter comes soon. As for the injections I think the unknown is what makes it feel daunting but you do get use to them and there honestly not to bad. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Thank you! I should receive the letter this Friday! (Fingers crossed)! Again, I'm glad I found this, because I just need to talk about it! LOL. I'm so anxious! Thanks very much for the positive info.

Yea, I just don't know exactly what to expect, and what will happen, and everything. We shall see very soon; I hope. xx

Definitely, talking helps so much. I wish I’d found this sooner, it’s also a great place to ask questions as normally someone knows the answer xx

Hi. Welcome. We all felt scared as you did before starting treatment but I guarantee you that once you’re underway you’ll be amazed at how you adapt and cope. As for the injections, it’s never nice but you do kinda get used to them. Any chance your Hubby can do them for you? My OH does mine xx

Thanks! :) I do dread the needles, but its a must I suppose...

I don't think I could ask anyone to come near me with a needle to be honest, unless they were a nurse or something. I usually turn pale and near faint at the sight of them myself, but I'll just close my eyes and jab! lol. I just can't wait for the ball to be actually rolling. thanks for your reply. :P xx

Welcome to the forum! Im sorry you've had such a tough journey to date! You'll get lots of support on here! I hate injections too but as it turned out they really are ok! Its exciting to be embarking on this next part of your journey xx

I am very excited to finally get started and also very apprehensive. Its been very hard watching everyone around me having babies; all the girls at work have, its just me now. My little sister has 3 boys and pregnant with a little girl right now. Of course I am very happy for them but you can't help getting that deep sighing sadness inside of being unable to have a baby, and being the odd one out..... Here's praying; for myself and for all of you :) xx

We all know the feeling on here of finding it difficult when people around us are falling pregnant whilst nothing happens for us month after month! 🤞 for BFPs for us both x

Thats it! 💗

Welcome! As I’ve said to other first timers, you will be able to do the injections because the pain of a tiny needle is much less than the great gaping pain of childlessness. You’ll just remind yourself why you are doing it. It’s not the nicest but it’s not the worst either. Good luck with your next steps xx

Hi, thanks! Yes, the fear is decreasing the more I read of ladies not finding it to be too bad or painful. It has to be done anyway, so I'll just have to deal with it. :) xx
