Hi all. I'm new here and do hope that you can tell me what to do.
I'm on day 8 of my stimulation and yesterday I missed Gonal F shot. I know that's wrong but I stayed at my friend and had no meds with me. I'm afraid of what it may cause and didn't tell my clinic about this. Just wanted to ask if it's ok, it happened just once, what can go wrong, right? Please tell me there is no need to worry. I don't want to end up with few eggs retrieved because of my mistake

Hey, I’m not a specialist in this sphere but I believe that not informing your clinic about your situation isn’t the smartest choice. If you tell them, your doctor would be able to explain you the consequences and maybe help you. .
I know that was stupid indeed and believe me I blame myself for this every single moment. I'm going through treatment abroad and I had to be there few days ago but have some troubles at work and can't just left. It seems everything got messy from the very beginning. I'm afraid that my dr can stop my stimulation at all..
But what if she cancel the stimulation???? If so I wouldn't be able to start all over again this year. I hope that one shot can't cause decline in the number of eggs. I have a trigger shot in a few days if everything is ok but maybe it should be done one day later then, so that I can make the last shot of gonal. I'm scared.
I would definately inform your dr asap, they will be able to guide you in the right direction.I am not a dr so I wouldnt be able to give you advice on whether missing a shot has any detrimental effect. I used to plan my evenings around my injections - Just a tip. Hope you get it sorted.
Will your clinic not scan you before they tell you to take your trigger shot to make sure you have good sized follicles? My clinic does this and tells you when the follicles are the right size to collect, and organises the trigger shot accordingly. If they scan you they can tell you if you need to do an extra day of stims.
there is no need to worry. Nobody wants to end up with few eggs retrieved because of mistake.
Call your doctor and expose your cards on the table. Show him that it was the last time and you feel really bad with understanding your immaturity. And the next round should be better and better anyway.
In fact, don’t worry. Call him. And prepare yourself for puncture. Wish you to yield a rich harvest!
In fact, a doctor can prescript a higher doze of gonal. I don’t think It could disrupt the whole cycle. Keep a positive thought on that.
Be more attentive and careful with a trigger shot before retrieval. follow closely the clock.
Did you get through to your doctor?
Call your doctor. I am sure you are not the first person to do this! I am sad to hear so many harsh replies- I am sure you already feel really bad. It’s best to tell your doctor as they may tell you to adjust your dose or that you need a blood test. If you don’t tell them, next time you have a scan or test they might increase your medication when it is not really needed which could have serious side effects for you (pain, fluid on the tummy or lungs). I think it unlikely that they will stop your stimulation.
Thank you Zoe! I really feel extremely bad and can't help thinking about the risks. I realize that follicles growing inside can experience the lack of the drugs. I keep running different scenarios in my head like sad sonogram, too few or empty follicles. Need to pull myself together and just call. I hope the stimulation won't be stopped *fingers crossed*
Don’t worry! We all respond differently to the drugs anyway, so everyone is on slightly different doses and they can just alter them. If I was you I’d phone your Doctor, you won’t be the first to have made a mistake, I remember seeing on here women who dropped the medicine, or injected it wrong, so try not to panic! Your doctor isn’t going to go mad, they understand this is a stressful time and we are only human!
I personally think some of the previous replies have been a tad harsh, please don’t beat yourself up about this xx
It makes sense indeed. I don't want my doctor be mad at me, I've already caused some changes in schedule and don't think she will be glad to hear my news. Anyways she is a woman as well an has to understand and tell me what we are going to do now. Thanks for your support! xxx
Hi Camass. Try not to worry too much about this, you won't be the first person to have missed a dose. Carry as usual, but let the clinic know as they may want you to stim for an extra day, depending what your next scan says. Good luck with the rest of the cycle. Diane
Thank you Diane for your support and advice. I'm sure you know how often this happens like no other. I now realize how silly my intention to hide this from my doctor is. I emailed my program coordinator and tell her the whole truth. I hope she won't get mad.
So you say they may add a day of stim but it there is a risk that the whole stimulation could be stopped? Did this happen to someone?
Hi camass. Even when a patient has completed her injections, a scan reveals that she may need a few days more, so do try not to worry, it will be adjusted if necessary. Diane
Perhaps you to do scan and watch how the follicles grow and you could be stimulated few days more to let them grow to the optimal size. This is normal practice I believe
I advise you to be positive and contact your clinic. I'm sure your doctor will tell you how this can be fixed xx
Hey there! I hope you're doing good. I totally understand your condition. Gonal F injection is a naturally occurring hormone. It is used to stimulate a follicle to develop and mature. Okay, so why didn't you tell your doc about it? You should have called him. And tell him that what did you do. What about the pharmacy by which you're taking these meds from? Well if you missed it, the main thing here is when do you use it. You can use it after or start again from the next day. It's good that you stayed at you friend's home. Support in such conditions is really important. If I were you I would have done the same. And I would take it as soon as I remembered. Don't just miss it again. And immediately tell your doc about it for any other queries. Don't think about it too much. Take care of yourself. Much love.
Thank you Lorrie! I did call my coordinator that evening and told her the truth. I believe I wasn't the first one with that issue so she didn't go mad thank god. I know now it was so silly of me..Well, the coordinator informed my doctor and she told me to do scan and added a day of stimulation after that. Scan showed that follicles grew normally and last evening I had a trigger shot. EC is tomorrow and all I can do now is praying for my precious eggs. Wish me luck girls!
