Hope all you lovely ladies are ok, I need some advice again!!!
I have mild OHSS (I think.. clinic have never said it’s moderate so I am assuming)
Ive had it since ec which was 7 weeks ago this Friday! My stomach was really swollen and uncomfortable for a few weeks but went down to around a 4-5 month bump! So still some swelling but better! I was signed off work for the last 5 weeks and yesterday I went back to work on a phase return for literally 5 hours a day! During the morning at work my stomach started to swell bigger again and I had the uncomfortable feeling back! When I got home I fell asleep on the sofa and must of turned or twisted as I woke up with a shooting pain in my left side! Since then I’ve had pain in both side around my my egg area!
I haven’t got any shortness of breath and I haven’t been sick but I’m panicking I’ve done something wrong! I’ve been so desperate to get back to work and now I feel like it was too soon! I don’t know whether to wait for the clinic to open and ring them tomorrow or to go to A&E? I know the docs and nurses might not know much about OHSS and I’m worried they might do something that might effect our baby?
I am getting myself so stressed and in a state! Sorry for the massive post, any advice would be gratefully received!
Hoping you all are getting on well in your journey xxxx

Can you ring the out of hours ivf on call doc? Our clinic has one. Number was on answer phone as I had to ring. Or just ring the switch board and tell the operator you need to speak to ivf on call doctor x
Thanks violet!! Was worried I might be being over dramatic so didn’t know whether to ring the consultant or not but think I’ll do that, thank you!! Hope you’re doing ok x x
Hope you managed to get some medical advice last night. I’ve never had OHSS but was on a Gynae ward for another ivf side effect a few years back and they said they had treated a few women suffering from OHSS so hoping the doctors/nurses at your local hospital were able to help you xx
Hi there, I had mild OHSS too and when I went for my 7 week scan I had 2 massive follicles each side which had filled back up after ET and were measuring 6.5cm each. I also had really bad back pain which used to wake me in the night with shooting spasms in my bum and up my back so went to the Physio and the pressure from the follicles was affecting my sciatic nerve. Not a huge amount anyone could do - I just had to go on a high sodium (salty) diet in a bid to ‘dehydrate’ the follicles and eventually the pain eased. Might be worth asking your clinic for a scan so they can measure your follicles size as anything above 5cm is worth monitoring. Hope that helps and that you feel better soon!!
Thank you so much!! This is very reassuring! I’ve had a scan and one is just over 5 and the other is 5 so I’m borderline, the clinic have reassured me this morning and said i could have just pinched the egg when twisting and all is ok! I also have the sciatic pain so I feel your pain, how long did your symptoms last for and is your pregnancy going well? I still look 4-5 months pregnant so it’s been difficult answering all the questions at work this week as only my manger knows I’ve been through ivf! Hope is all going with you and thank you so much for your reply xx
That’s great news, really glad they managed to put your mind at ease! I just had my 12 Week Scan today and one of the follicles is still measuring 3cm but they are coming down in size which is good. I got a pregnancy pillow which helped a bit, ate lots of ritz biscuits and the pain gradually eased at about 9-10 weeks but is still there now, just not bad enough to wake me in the night! Just take it easy and try and stay active - swimming is good as I found the bloating and wind was worse when I was laid up at home not doing much. Good luck with it all and hopefully it will pass soon!
Thanks everyone, the clinic have helped me out and put my mind at rest and spending the rest of the day with my feet up!! Hope every ones journey is going well and thanks again x x
