I really struggle with eating the pineapple 🍍 and core. I’ve tried so many ways to make it palatable (smoothies, eating with cheese...) the thought of eating more pineapple and core is enough to put me off pineapple for life lol 🤢🤮

Hi Tugsgirl they say that supplements are no match for the actual thing. However, a few months ago I had a really terrible uti and refused to take any medicine (I've had my fill of drugs through ivf already!) so I bought some cranberry tablets from Tesco. I thought they'd be useless but after 2 weeks of very painful weeing, I took a few of these a day and it was gone in a few days. I don't think these supplements can hurt, if you want to try something. I didn't really eat any pineapple last time and after I ate a whole bag of chocolate Brazil's in a day, I also steered clear of these 😁 I still ended up with a bfp despite the mc further on down the line xx
On my successful cycle I didn’t eat any pineapple and can’t eat Brazil nuts either (allergic to nuts) I just drank loads of pomegranate juice xx

Why don't you put it in a blender and drink it that's what I did with a bit if normal pineapple. It's easier I promise xxx

Give the supplements a go can't see them causing harm if you really can't tolerate the pineapple don't you like pineapple juice? Juice the pineapple with the core? Xxx

Yes so try disguise it with the normal part and use the core too that way your blending it with normal pineapple too then just gulp it back. Xxx
I did gulp it back. Even tried cutting it up really really small and just swallowing without chewing and still I retched lol 😂 xx
But if you juiced the core with the pineapple it would be, easier. Xxx
I did. That was the first thing I tried. It was gross. So I added the vanilla ice cream, thought I’d make a sweet kinda thick shake with it. Looked nice but tasted 🤢 It’s the texture I swear! I can’t get it smooth enough xx
Bloody hell. Sounds like me with rice pudding. Give the supplements a go hun it's thev enzyme what we need anyway. Is there another fruit that's, strong in bromelain as it would be better food wise xxx

I didn’t eat pineapple on either of my goes and the first one I tried Brazil nuts but they were gross.
I know what you mean though about not knowing what works as on my second go after transfer I was insistent on having McDonald fries even though I didn’t on my first round and got BFP with both.
So confusing 😫x
I’ve had the fries straight after both transfers that were bfps too. Clinic laughed at us when we explained why we were off to get a McDonalds after transfer. There’s one just over the road from our clinic xx
Hey Tugsgirl...ive tried loads of different smoothies, so far this is the nicest combo ive tried;
Fresh pineapple. 2 thick slices including core.
1 x passion fruit
Handful of spinach
Handful of Kale
Pom juice
Water
It sounds gross but is actually yummy!!
Do you know how much pineapple we're meant to eat per day or how long for? xx
I normally like pineapple, on a pizza or in a tin but the texture of the core 🤮 Even when I made a smoothie of it 🤮 I think it’s one slice with core a day for days 1-5, that’s what I’ve done the last two times anyway xx

However, the Dole Nutrition Lab disagrees, explaining that fresh and even frozen pineapple juice demonstrated greater enzymatic activity when compared to six bromelain supplements. These researchers point out that in addition to bromelain, pineapple juice is also an excellent source of both vitamin C and manganese."

The cores the important bit. It's unfortunate Vicky can't tolerate it. I'm sure the supplements will do the same thing. But I think she might just end up trying to get through it them 5 days because both times she's done it she got a bfp, I hope she works it out 💗🤗😘

I know. That's why I enjoy chocolate Brazil nuts don't mind juicing the core myself but I get where Tugs is coming from.

Iv got miscarriage clinic on the29th although I'm not very confident in them not sure why, I'm going to rebook a consultation with endo specialist he's fertility aswel and I'm eating my words now but going to get my nk cells checked before we try again.

Sometimes it is best to stick with who u feel comfortable with! I read about someone who jus started next treatment with meds as if they had NK cells and saved themselves £500...i thought that was a good idea. But also test sounds like a good plan.
Im worried as i was hoovering today and lifting some boxes that ive pulled my follicles. Im sure i am overreacting but the thoughts keep popping in! Xx

That's quite a good idea but how would I be able to get the meds without being diagnosed?
Its in my head now to get it done I think it would be worth it. Iv thought about it in back of my head for a while but always thought it's a money maker and reducing inflammation would just help but maybe not. I try be my own Dr most of time 💗🤗😘

Mmmm I think I'll just get tested I'm sure if it was that simple we'd all be doing it then again you just don't know. I cleared my tubes with a supplement after been told it would cost be grands to have anther child or I'd be ectopic I know I haven't been successful yet but I haven't had an ectopic since they said.

I have no idea 🤔 agree the core is awful. The only thing I can say helped was to leave the pineapple out the fridge for an hour or so before eating, it made it slightly less hard/chewy xxx

I am currently 4dp5dt and didn't have pineapple for this one as I read in quite alot of places it can cause uterine contractions...i had it for all of my previous 4 cycles but have now had blood work done and don't have any clotting or sticking issues so was strongly advised not to thin my blood at all so didn't do It this time.
I don't know what the outcome will be yet but if it's not successful I won't blame it on pineapple.
I am eating 3 Brazil's (was 5 plus a selenium supplement until I read this week you can be poisoned ), 100% pomegranate juice, avocado, eggs, salmon and 2 decaf green teas a day plus loads of supplements I've taken with my 2 successful cycles. Oh and a horrible herbal tea my acupuncturist recommended. I'm also only eating hot or room temperature food and drink and rested up completely for 2 whole days following....now just walking about but not exercising.
Let's see what the outcome is 🤞 xxxx

Ohh I've also read that one shouldn't eat raw pineapple as it can cause uterine contractions, but that pineapple juice apparently is safe as the processing makes the substance that can cause contractions disappear.
However there are so many other things one can take to improve lining (pomegranate juice, royal jelly, raspberry leaf tea, baby aspirin) that it seems there's lots one can take even if pineapple (in any form) is out of the question.
I think it's also important to be happy and relaxed, so if the eating of something is causing us lots of anxiety we should maybe just accept it's not for us and try something else that doesn't cause us anxiety?
It's not easy but I think if we listen to our bodies and take good care of ourselves we can make it easier for ourselves... Good luck everyone <3
There’s so much conflicting advice out there, it’s so confusing. I’d read that the bromelian in pineapple is beneficial to aiding implantation which is why you need to eat the core where it’s more concentrated and that if you have the juice or have it out of a tin then the process they use to make it, destroys the bromelian and makes it ineffective. I had never heard of it causing uterine contractions. I’ve had a slice a day (days 1-5) with the core on two cycles now and got bfps (I’m not saying that that was down to the pineapple) but I also had a bfn and I hadn’t had the pineapple that cycle. Now I don’t know what to do for the best. I’m so confused 🤷♀️ xx
It's so confusing and there's indeed so much conflicting evidence out there! I've actually booked us an appointment with a nutritionist who is specialised in fertility issues in the hope that she might be able to answer at least some of my questions...
But I also think not stressing about anything too much and using what works for us best may be good, as stress is sure not to do any good for any health issue...
