Autistic And TTC

Are there any ladies on here who have high functioning autism and are TTC or pregnant.

Yes. I'm diagnosed with high functioning autism and ttc. I have three children who are also diagnosed with an ASD

I'm sorry for such a delayed reply.

I was much the same as I always am - every little thing I feel and it panics me. Although funny enough I coped with labour quite good, I didn't really use any pain relief except gas & air with my second and third but first was longest and most painful labour and used nothing. Third pregnancy was worst in terms of pain because I had SPD which was agony but I coped.

With other sensory things there wasn't any difference except an even more heightened sense of smell.

If it's of concern to you, you could ask to be referred to the perinatal team during pregnancy, they deal with mental health so could potentially be of some use. I know ASD isn't a mental health issue per se but it does bring with it issues such as heightened anxiety amongst other things. Sensory issues provoke anxiety and so they may be able to help with this

Thank you. That's very helpful. My anxiety is heightened when my hormones fluctuate and my sensory issues are pretty constant especially my sense of smell and noise and I'm a little concerned if it will worsen. My main fear is the anxiety but you have eased my mind. Thank you so much. I'm definitely going to ask to be referred. X
