Early pregnancy test

My daughter had her egg transferred last Thursday. She tested with the clear blue early detector today and it was negative. Do you think it is too early or is her dream over xx

Definitely too early. Day 9 or 10 earliest to test, if last Thurs then today is day 6. And if you test early dont give up until the official test date.

That’s what I’ve told her. It says you can test 6 days before her period but I’m thinkin with ivf we know exactly when everything happened so it’s too early xx

It’s too early. When I researched it said that 9 days post a 5 day transfer was the earliest time to test with an early detecting home pregnancy test so she is far too early. Did she have a day 3 transfer or a day 5 transfer? She will have been given an official test date also, which I’m guessing will be Thurs 28th? xx

Yes, it is quite early for a BFP to show up on HPT - even if it's Clearblue. Usually, around 7-8 days after FET the pregnancy can only be detected in beta and it takes a couple of more days down the line for the HPT to show a positive test result. However, some do get a BFP as early as 8dp5dt but then every woman's rise in HCG varies. She is definitely not out of the game yet. If you ask me I'll advise avoiding testing or at least delay. The emotional breakdown that comes with a BFN (even if it's a false BFN for being too early) may affect the pregnancy owing to the hormonal imbalance associated with every emotion we feel. I read it on the forums a lot of times and even some Dr advice not to check too early as that only not gonna help the chance of conceiving. Hope this information helps and do update me when your daughter gets a BFP - which I hope she does very soon. Sending baby dust! :)

Thankyou so much for that. Spending the day with her today so hopefully I’m gonna make her feel better xx

That's a great decision I'd say. :) I guess daughters get more comfortable during pregnancy when they have their mother around. Make sure you guys don't discuss the odds yet though - look at the good possibilities and stay optimistic. Sending her love and all the luck in the world for a BFP! :)

Still early. I got my BFPs early but with FRER not clear blue. Some people go to 12DP5DT before they get their positive so there is still hope. Wishing her luck. X

It’s so disheartening seeing a negative even when you know it’s too early, just takes away some of that hope. Definitely too early to test though as others have said so don’t give up hope. Wishing you and your daughter all the best and hope your Christmas present this year is a big fat positive! Even if it isn’t, spend this time relaxing together and recoup for next year. We’ve just had a bfn from a frozen transfer and I didn’t realise how devastated I would feel, think I’d been pushing my emotions down throughout the process and now they’re all coming out. Spent some time yesterday with some lovely friends who really picked me up and I feel stronger again now - never underestimate the power of friendship. Sending you all the very best of luck and hope your daughter gets her miracle! Xxx

It’s such a hard time isn’t it. I hope it works out for you and thankyou for your thoughts xx

Remember also if you test too early it can be the egg collection trigger shot still in your system, so wise not to test before 9days post at least.. and 9 days is still early to test, but could be positive. (but in your daughter's case, clearly the trigger shot out of her system now)

Everyone is different whether it helps to test a bit early or not! We tended to test a few days early, then when in our case it was negative, we kept hoping for the best, but knew it might not be so, which somehow helped prepare us. But we kept our hopes up until OTD (official test day)
