To dye or not?

Guys I really need some advice ... egg collection is finally booked for Monday. Just realised I’ve got a hair appointment for highlights on Wed . Should I go ahead or cancel? Is it safer as it’s foils?

I personally have never dyed my hair once I’ve started treatment I just don’t think it’s worth risking the chemicals and then if it doesnt work being let with doubting myself and wondering if that was the reason x

They say to treat yourself as if you are pregnant and foils in pregnancy are fine but it's entirely your decision. Don't have it done if you are then going to be worried and questioning it xxx

You won’t have had your transfer by then will you? I would probably go. I have my hair appointment on 22nd December, I think I will be due egg collection on 21st or 22nd and if it’s 21st I will still be going on 22nd.

It could be worth asking your hairdresser?

My hairdresser said the reason for no dye in pregnancy was due to the fact that you might have a different reaction than you usually do and so you might develop an allergy. Nothing to do with harming the baby.

That’s good to know! To be honest, I can’t see me stopping dying my hair! I have too much grey to go natural!

Foils are fine and if the embryos not back in definitely ok

I think you’ll be fine if the egg collection is over and done with. I’d go ahead personally. I probably wouldn’t do it after embryo transfer though.

I would personally not use hair colourants during treatment. I have, in fact, switched to an organic salon locally - the cost is much lower since my hair is done by an apprentice and the products are lush!

I had my hair dyed once I finished treatment I asked twice at the clinic and both nurses said it’s fine and that sometimes - it’s just people being a bit OTT - I’m 14 weeks pregnant now x

Hey,

I actually asked my nurse about this and she said it would be fine before the transfer but not after.

Hope that helps!

I asked about this also at my clinic a few months ago & the nurse said there are no issues with getting hair dyed during treatment. I am due to have my hair dyed just before EC in January! Good luck! x
