Night before end of 2WW, I’ve started my period

Hi,

I’ve been reading everyone’s comments to help me through our IVF journey, and felt I should share mine. 1st cycle on privately funded IVF cycle - we only retrieved 5 eggs, of which 2 were suitable for transfer. I’ve my blood test tomorrow morning and I’ve started my period today. I phoned the nurse at the clinic, and just got commiserations. Feeling very low - and know we’ll have to wait over Christmas as the clinic is shut. Good luck to everyone else - I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I tested today and got a negative! It was our first self funded ivf. I had one egg put in and it was good one so stayed hopeful! Clinic told me I'll likely start bleeding now over the next week! That 2ww was just torturous. I feel your pain and hope it eases soon 😘

Exactly the same! Just finished first round of IVF. Managed to get 5 eggs, 3 fertilized but only 2 good enough so we transferred both of them. Was supposed to test yesterday but got my period on sunday. Dr said to give my body 1 month break (but they closed over December anyway) and have appointment on 2 January to discuss next round. Its not an easy journey.

Thanks for all your lovely comments - JCJM I know how you feel. Just waiting for bloods to get done at the moment. Trying to stay positive but finding it a real struggle.

Alinim, yeah it is a hard pill to swallow, especially the first couple of days. But lets stay positive and look forward to round 2. I hope you are able to get your next appointment asap so that you can focus on that and have something to look forward to. Crossing fingers that the new year will bring both You and I and everyone else on here some positive news 🤞

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I had to go and get my bloods yesterday, which was torturous. They kept me waiting an hour, and then couldn’t get any blood out of my arm. They wanted me to wait another half an hour to get a senior nurse in. I just left at that point, really upset and phoned the clinic. I had to self test at home and confirm the result. So - no surprise it was negative. We’ll be back in the clinic in January as I need to wait for this bleed to stop, and then have another natural period before they will start me on another course. Trying to stay positive but I’m finding it all just utterly mentally exhausting. Thinking of Christmas and the effort of trying to put a brave face on things, and I just want to opt out this year. Sorry for being the pessimistic voice on this forum! I’ll seek counseling as the privately funded provides this. Thanks to all for your support and good luck to everyone else. Xxx
