So just been to clinic to see nurse to get start dates and still my BMI is only 18 and it has to be 19. I need to put on 2kg in 3 weeks but I can’t!!!!!! I’ve tried all year to put weight on. I eat sooooo much until I feel sick. Any tips? Anyone else having trouble with this? People probably think I’m lucky because I can eat as much as I want but I’m not...... it just doesn’t go on.

What about making an appointment with your GP and see if they can put you on build up drinks?
Eating until your nearly sick isn't great, these build up drinks are quite good as they're high calorie but just like drinking and milkshake.
Also, when you are eating try eating high calorie type foods for your meals. Treat yourself to come take away foods and fizzy drinks over the next few weeks. Not an ideal diet, but worth it for a few weeks just to pain that bit weight.
I think you should include a good amount of cheese and butter in your daily diet. Also, eat every few hours (snacking). I collected this information from various maternity blogs since I spend a lot of time online hoping to find some hope and strength to carry on with my assisted TTCs. Even if you're working on weight gain, it's important you still take all micronutrients in the proper ratio. Therefore, make sure you take fruits, eggs and milk regularly along with dietary fibres and whole wheat bread. Ohh, you may add a spoonful of royal jelly with breakfast as that boosts fertility in women. Hope this suggestions help!
I've found nuts make me gain weight. My bmi has gone from 18 to 20 in the last year and I mainly attribute that to nuts. Helpfully, almonds, Brazil nuts and walnuts are great for fertility. Add in a few of the nuts you like as well for extra good oils. I also stir flaxseed into yoghurt. That has definitely caused some of the weight gain and isn't too filling x
Hi there Stephiex - just a thought but have you had your Thyroid tested? Sorry, I don't mean to alarm you but a friend of mine had similar issues and then realised she had an overactive Thyroid and once that was sorted out she had two lovely boys one after the other. Hope you find some good answers xxx
I also had this same issue. I remember telling the nurse that i’d never put weight on! I increased my calorie intake e.g full fat milk, porridge, pasta etc. However I’ve put on about 6 pounds during/after my first round of IVF and am now comfortably over 8 stone... a weight which I thought i’d never be! Get munching 😉 xx
Nuts and nut butter, avocado, full fat dairy and olive oil are a great way of getting healthy fats into you and weight on. Please don’t be tempted to use take away, cake etc to do it as that sort of diet won’t help you get pregnant. I agree with the others about seeing your GP to see what else they can recommend. I would say that however you do it it needs to get you to a weight you can sustain so that you’re not losing weight during pregnancy. Good luck!
The Clinic weighs you clothed so wear the heaviest jeans and lots of layers too. Just a suggestion. Also when I started injections your weight increases in still trying to shift it now haha! Good luck x
Hi, I know how this feels,I was slightly under in my bmi when I completed forms for the clinic and as such did not qualify for ivf on the nhs. My bmi was out by a .1! I had to go the doctors who did my weight and height and it was ok. Try not to worry , eat healthy bulk out foods like nuts, Brown bread and pasta. If you have always been that weight then it is natural to you. I think you only get weighed once at the clinic x my gp was really understanding so it is worth discussing with them. Hope you get it sorted x
