My name is Kerry and I'm new to all this... Me and my partner start our journey with IVF on the 19th December. The doctors have given me 20/25% chance of it working, I'm looking for some advice on what foods are good! I hear royal jelly tablets are very good to take? I already take pregnacare and stopped have all the fatty foods.
Also.... the injections..... do they really give you bad mood swings??
I will be looking forward to hearing from you guys : )

Good luck Kerry! I'm a believer in just a good old well rounded healthy diet with some additional folic acid, unless your consultant advises you otherwise. Maybe some Vitamin D during the winter as well. Two of the key things my consultant advised though was the importance of enough sleep, which is key to healthy tissue and follicle growth, and the importance of hydration. The only side effects I had on the drugs was headaches, and when the nurse advised to drink even more water they went away and I didn't have any noticable mood swings. But maybe I was just lucky as I know other people do have other side effects. Crossing my fingers for you! x
Hi Kerry, you should be able to ring or email your clinic if you have more questions.
The percentage chance of it working first time are really individual to each couple depending on your test results, so I don't think anyone else can comment on that apart from your consultant. If it doesn't work, the reason(s) will be assessed and you might get a revised percentage and a change to the process or drugs for your second cycle.
You should be given a protocol with expected appointment dates, but it is difficult to arrange with work as some people might need extra appointments and they're not all fixed dates as they depend on your reaction to the drugs. Most of them are short though for a scan or checkup, and some clinics do evenings. You will need 2 days off for egg collection, and then I chose to take 3 or 4 days after embryo transfer when you are meant to rest.
Happy to try and help if you have more questions! x
