I just had a BFP and it is very early I know... but there is so much on the net about what to eat and what not to.. I wanted to eat a cheese and onion sandwich from Asda... but is it safe to eat this?

Should I avoid cheese?
If it’s hard cheese such as cheddar it’s ok x
enjoy that sandwich while you can! at 10 weeks after a few weeks of relying on cheese sandwiches to get by i did a u turn and haven't been able to stomach cheese since-or cakes, sweets, biscuits, chocolate, jacket potatoes, tea for that matter. The list grows by the day lol (I'm 13 weeks now)x
I just go by the nhs choices website for guidance. Happy they just allowed runny eggs (with lion stamp)
Thanks Emma x
Cheese is one of those funny ones where “it depends”. Hard pasteurised cheeses such as cheddar tend to be ok but soft cheeses are a bit more iffy. Unpasteurised cheese and blue cheese are a definite no as is any type of mould ripened cheese like Brie. But then if you cook it it changes and some (but not all) of the cheeses that were nos become ok to have. Like the other ladies have said the nhs website is pretty useful for what you can and can’t have. I would say check labels before you buy as to whether or not stuff is pasteurised. I’ve been caught out by things like fresh Parmesan thinking it would be fine then it hasn’t been.
I’ve been told to avoid pre-prepared sandwiches and salads by my midwife just be careful sweet. The main cheeses to avoid are soft cheeses, Stilton and Brie. Mind u I accidentally had some blue Stilton and it hasn’t done any harm but I’ll avoid it from now on x
Hi congrats by the way! Its ok but be careful if there is mayo on it as eggs have to be pasturized xx
I love the cheese and onion sandwiches out of Asda and I think the cheese is ok but is there not mayonnaise on these sandwiches? That would be a bigger worry than the cheese!! Congratulations on your BFP though!!
Just wondering as a couple of you have mentioned it - what's wrong with mayonnaise?!
