Hcg levels of 40

I was so excited to get my first ever bfp until I saw the doctor today.

Doctor says I'm 4 weeks plus 6 days. Hcg came back at 40. He thinks I've had or having a failed pregnancy.

I've got to go back in two days to see if my hcg levels are rising.

Any positive stories. Please share. Xx

Hello my hcg levels started at 41 at 3-4 weeks . they increased every 72 hours after that . And I’m pregnant with twins . Try not to get to focussed on the hcg level numbers as they vary so much . Here if you need a chat xx

When you say 3-4 weeks was that from your last bleed? My hcg level was taken 15 dpo. My last bleed was 13th September so according to the doctor I'm 5 weeks today but really I'm only 16 days pregnant from when i ovulated.

My boobs feel full. I've been pretty tried today but I don't know if this is down to all the worry! X

It was tested when I was a fair few days away from expected period I did a first response test and got the positive so booked in with my gp who then did hcg blood test . And it was 41 . It increased and now 18 weeks pregnant with non identical twins .. xx

Sorry to ask a silly question but what is hcg? I’m guessing it’s a hormone? Thanks xx

It's the pregnancy hormone that gets produced once an embryo has implanted. Xx

Hi Squeak2. Not a silly question. It stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. This is the hormone that is excreted by the chorionic villi, which is where the placenta grows from, and is the first indication of pregnancy. It is only present in pregnancy or for a while after receiving the "trigger" shot during IVF/ICSI. Diane
