Hcg levels

Morning,

I received my BFP last weds 24/6 My hcg was 149.

I was then admitted into hospital for OHSS On the Friday and they tested my hcg level again and it was 277.

I went back to my clinic yesterday and had bloods done and they were 1400

I have been asked to go back tomorrow for bloods as they want to rule out an ectopic. I have no pain or bleeding.

I’m so confused as I thought they was happy if the numbers were continuously going up.

Has anyone else had low numbers but a successful pregnancy?

Hey hun how stressful for you. Did they not explain why they were concerned or what your numbers should be? HCG levels should double every 48 hours. So if you can work out if that has happened from your first test, then everything should be fine. I do hope everything is ok. Sending hugs xx

Before I got results yesterday me and partner worked out if it had doubled every 48 hours it should be around 1200 mark so when she said 1400 I was happy.

Until she drops in that she wants me to come in again 48 hours later to make sure it continues to rise as she said it’s unlikely to be an ectopic if it goes over 2000.

xx

Strange. I would have questioned why she seemd concerned. I wouldnt worry if you've done the math and numbers look ok. Maybe mention to the clinic tomorrow when you have your next bloods as to why they are concerned, might help ease your mind. All the best for good numbers tomorrow 😁💕

I’m not sure why the doctor would say if it’s over 2000 it’s unlikely to be an ectopic??? It’s very worrying there is such misinformation around - I’ve had 2 ectopics- both ruptured - the first my hcg was nearly 5000 and the second had a strong heartbeat and hcg was over 10,000

How many days last transfer/DPO did you get your first hcg done?

I had my first one 14 days post 3dt.x

Your number isn’t too low considering it was day 3 you transferred so you could have had a late implanter? They are doubling which is the main thing? If they’ve double again they should be able to see something on a scan to either confirm or rule out an ectopic? My first one was visible when hcg was around 3500 x

Hopefully tomorrow the numbers have increased so they can have more of an idea of what is going on x

On the flip side, I had low HCG and then a miscarriage, but my numbers were a LOT lower than yours (they were doubling every 48 hours, but from a really low start of 30 rather than 149). To me, yours don't sound that low.

I’ve had a similar experience and it’s turned out ok.

I had a faint BFP on third round but my bloods were only 27. I was sent for retests every two days and for the next week my results didn’t double but increased slightly.

(I was being monitored closely because I’d had an ectopic from our first round)

They did two more tests and a week after my BFP my levels started to double, but we’re still low.

I was told some ladies just have low numbers and my embryo was just taking its time to get settled.

I was reassured on a seven week scan and I’m now 32 weeks pregnant

Fingers crossed for you that everything is ok and you just have low numbers x

What did it feel like when you had your ectopic?xx

I didn’t know there was a problem until 6 weeks when the embryo got big enough to be a problem. My body tried rejecting it so I had no pain but I had heavy, clotty bleeding. Before that it felt like a normal pregnancy, my hormones levels were less than 1200 when it happened, I was told if it was ectopic hormone will stay below a certain level.

I had a sharp niggly pain on one side - not as low as miscarriage pain more like drawing a line straight across from your belly button towards your hip. I didn’t have any bleeding.

When I ruptured both times it felt like someone literally had my tube in their hand and they were trying to rip it from my body. The pain was so bad I couldn’t walk or talk - and I’ve got a very High threshold for pain and some 5 natural miscarriages at home so I knew it was serious at that point. The first time I drove myself into a&e as didn’t want to bother anyone and they put me straight on a trolley and I was in theatre within 15 mins. The second time I was blue lit in an ambulance 🤦‍♀️
