This is my first post and just looking for some advice, I came off my pill December 2016 and have been trying since to conceive my periods are always like clock work, this month I was due on the 1st, I was 6 days late so naturally got excited I then came on on the 6th day and now really heavy bleeding and clotting has anyone else experienced this?

Before how long should I leave before I go to the doctors for advice?

I think it's about 2 years before they will consider any tests? Perhaps get a ovulation kit and keep records for a few months and then visit the dr for advice? Good luck

Doctors will generally start investigations after a year but for ivf it has to be two years - best of luck x

It depends on your age normally - if you are over 35 they will see you sooner x

I would go and see your GP and see what they suggest. We wanted a long time thinking it's nothing. 2 years wasted

As the other ladies have said then technically your GP won't refer you until you've been trying for 2 years (unless you're over 35 in which case I think it's 3 months), although some will start investigations earlier. It's frustrating when you know nothing is happening and the GP won't do anything but unfortunately that's the way of the NHS. If you really don't want to wait that long then you could look into private testing. The best advice I can give at the moment is to get an ovulation kit and then track ovulation and AF on a monthly basis and if AF is different to normal note that down too. I did that and managed to persuade my GP to start investigations earlier than normal as a result. When you were late did you take a pregnancy test to see what it said?

Not what you're looking for?
