DHEA & periods

Has anyone who has taken DHEA had any side effects relating to AF? My AF is due normally on day 26/27 but I'm currently on day 32 and still nothing!!! I started taking DHEA at the end of August so this is the 1st cycle so I'm putting it down to that rather than the other alternative for late AF!!!

Mine is clockwork. Of all the times I took it, once I was 12 hours late. Just as heavy and annoying as ever!

Haven't had any issues and been on it for almost 3 months now. Could be the other alternative....!!! x

It made my period a bit longer to start with! Hang on in there, I reckon it's worth it! I had a rubbish round without it but managed to get blasts with it!!xx

Hi lorraineb61. I don't think it's to do with the DHEA. If you're taking it to try and improve egg quality, maybe your periods are starting to get a little irregular naturally?? You will have to check with your doctor/specialist. Good luck! Diane

Hi Diane, we actually had our consultation last night after our failed cycle so I brought the same question up. He said that it shouldn't be connected to my period so I guess I'll just have to wait it out!!

Hi Lorraine, I’ve got the same issue. No period with DHEA. Had my bloods checked which showed improvement in AMH, testosterone a bit higher, LH & oestradiol a bit lower, FSH ok. 1 IVF specialist said it’s the DHEA, the other said it’s not! Endocrine specialist said it looks like it is the DHEA!! So conflicting advice but all say don’t worry. My advice would be to get your bloods checked if your period doesn’t come, to check there isn’t anything else going on. Hope that helps.xx

Thanks, that's quite reassuring actually! I know my cycle has been a bit over the place with the 2 cycles but they were always shorter rather than longer!! I'll give it another week or so before I get really worried as I've already ruled out the alternative for late AF!!!!
