EC this morning...

Hi ladies, just a quick update to say my egg collection went well this morning - felt surprisingly relaxed. Out of 14 follicles they got 11 eggs!! And considering in our last 2 cycles they only got 1 and 4 respectively this was brilliant news for us and more than we could have hoped for. Praying for them to be healthy and mature and for a good number to fertilise. Come on sperm - do your job!!! πŸ˜ŠπŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€ xx

Hi Blondie_81. Well done you! Time for a rest and to drink lots of water. Hope you've given the sperm a good talking to! Fingers crossed for fertilisation and transfer. Diane

Wow that's great! What does egg collection involve? Is it through your abdomen or done vaginally?! How do they get to the eggs? X

Hi, it's where they go into the ovaries after an internal scan with a needle to drain the fluid from each follicle within the ovary to collect the eggs. It's done vaginally but they give you something to relax you and a strong sedative but you're usually awake the whole time and they talk to you however it's all bit hazy afterwards and you feel a bit drunk and so they wheel you out and let you sleep for a bit. Then they give you tea and toast as you have to be nil by mouth for the procedure. It sounds scary but it's ok x dr google will provide you with a better answer than me though!
