Hi I had my scan this morning and the nurse mentioned my endometrial lining is 18 mm. Is this too thick?

Hi Anipea. If you are having IVF, that is too thick, it needs to be around 8-10mm for embryo transfer. Not sure whether you will be left to bleed, or whether you will have to down regulate for longer. Not too sure where you are in the cycle. Hope all woks out well for you. Diane

Thanks for the reply Diane - I thought it sounded quite thick. I have been on Merional 300 IU for 7 days now and started cetrotide 3 days ago (third injection today). I am on short protocol. I have another scan on wednesday. Is there anything I can do to try and reduce this? Do you think they might still be able to go ahead with egg collection (I have a low AMH level). Thanks

Hi. Hopefully egg collection can go ahead if follicles are correct size to receive eggs after trigger shot. However, they may carry on and fertilise them and freeze any viable embryos for replacement at a later date. See what Wednesday brings. Good luck! Diane

Hi Anipea. That should do nicely. Hopefully all can go ahead now. Good luck! Diane

Just had a look through some research papers - there are conflicting views on endometrial lining thickness and pregnancy rate. Some papers say the thicker the better, where as others say the optimum around 11 mm. I am going to try and stay positive and see this as a good sign.

Hi Anipea. I think you fill find that too thick and you will shed the lining. I was always taught 8-10mm so a tiny bit over shouldn't be a problem. Check with your specialist. Good luck! Diane
