Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone had experienced diarrhea after egg collection? I thought it may be just because my belly was a little put out or I'd eaten something funny. I still have an appetite and no other unwanted symptoms but I have my ET tomorrow and thought it would have passed by now. My nurse during collection said that the pessaries can cause constipation or in rare cases diarrhea, do you think I have anything to worry about? And am I allowed to take a diarrhea relief tablet at this stage? So that I'm 100% for tomorrow. Any help appreciated, thank you xx

Long winded post... No pun intended lol please help π
The pessaries can do strange things, but if you have an out of hours number to call, might be worth asking them about mild ohss..
I did consider OHSS but talked myself out of the possibility. I will definitely be giving them a call now just incase βΊοΈ thank you xxx
I had no symptoms at all and it was only from a blood test that they did which showed mild ohss...I've learnt it's not worth stressing out and wondering about, just ask anyone and everyone!!
Hi Laura91. The pessaries are more likely to cause bloatedness and nausea if anything. You could try drinking some rehydration salts, to see if that settles your tummy, and keep up with drinks of water too. If you feel poorly, more likely to be a bug?? Or something you steal?? Hopefully, it should soon pass. There's always the chance that your ovaries are still a bit active, so rest when you can, and as mentioned, keep up with drinks of water. Hope you soon feel better. Diane
That's great thank you Diane I will try some salts and lots of water. I don't feel poorly at all just the runs, will have a full day resting today. It's been a bit difficult to rest fully as we are moving house in less than 2 weeks so been packing and getting things ready as I won't be able to do much as of next week. Thank you again xxx
I was using hole number two and about half an hour after the pressaries sent me to the loo with the runs but if i remember just for the morning around pressaries time.
Hi Laura91 yep I got the same, not sure if from pessaries or something else but a general symptom of my normal AF is diarrhoea so I guessed it was to do with hormones. I also got haemorrhoids from the pessaries (nice!). I am 11 weeks now and still getting bouts of diarrhoea, I'd rather that than constipation tbh. We are all different and get different symptoms from hormonal fluctuations etc. I'd check with clinic to see if you're able to take something to ease it, perhaps a herbal remedy rather than medication? Just remember to drink plenty of water. Hope the transfer goes well xxx
Thank you Lilli79! I never thought about it until now but I also have diarrhea as a side affect of my AF. I tried to call my clinic but they are closed today so will just ride it out with my salts and plenty of water. I'll be going to Holland and Barratt as well today to have a look at some herbal reliefs, so thank you for the suggestion thank you for well wishes. Will hopefully be back on after 2WW with good news π€ xxx
No worries, I know what you mean about wanting to be OK for transfer though. It would be wise to get some advice from clinic about the diarrhoea relief as some herbal remedies might not be suitable at this stage. I get a lot from Holland & Barrett and find them very helpful but unfortunately they are not pharmacists. Perhaps a chat with someone in a chemist (e.g Boots?). I find that drinking lots of water normally flushes it through and Oranges usually work for me for some reason!! But understand it might be different if it's been a few days. Mine normally doesn't last longer than 2 days. Hope you're able to sort it soon xx
Hi, yes last time I did get a one off bout of diarrhoea the evening after the EC but I also passed out for a couple of seconds whilst on the loo as came over all funny and the last thought I remember was 'I'm going to be sick' and reaching for the bin! I also nearly passed out after a toilet trip during the night and fell onto our bed and woke my hubby up!! Scary and so mentioned to the nurse the next morning when the rang about the fertilisation results and they said to just rest and drink plenty of water and to ring them back on that afternoon with an update just so they could check i was better rather than worse. Didn't have any symptoms other than discomfort first time round so came as a bit of a shock! I think it might have been because it was more invasive second time and I had more follicles and they got more eggs. I'll be fully prepped for my 3rd EC in a couple weeks.. Ps feel your stress re moving house and IVF at same time - we should be moving in about a month.. Good luck with both and take it easy xx
I too am experiencing diarrhoea after the egg collection and I still have it. Yeah I guess it's because of pessaries.
Hope it begins to settle down soon Laura91 oxo
Yes, I had this, a lot, and I also had it about 15 minutes before ET!! Which they needed a full ish bladder for... But obviously I couldn't allow ET to go ahead with having to hold onto loose bowels. Yet I knew I couldn't 'go' just after ET... So I had to go before. OMG it was nearly 3 years ago and I remember everything about it!!!
Anyway, I managed to 'go' whilst holding onto most urine. Super proud of self for that. The nurses had advised me to get it over with, with due care....
I then continued to have loose bowels for many weeks during the 2WW and after.
Agree wth the others, most likely the pessaries. It did not impact outcome for me. It worked and am now considering going through it all again for a sibling.
As Diane said, have lots of water today to stay hydrated and hopefully work some of it through your system.
Lots of luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get on. xxx
Well done for holding onto your wee! I definitely couldn't of lol update on today.... I had 2 top quality embryos and the embryologist said they were the highest grade possible and 1 that was just a little behind. They transferred 1 of the amazing ones and let the other one catch up and it has also progressed to a good grade, both viable to freeze. Woohoooooooooooooo so one top quality on board and 2 in the freezer xxxx
