Antagonist protocol and metformin

Hi all! Had our first ever IVF consultation today and was told I'll be on the antagonist protocol which is a short one, about 2 weeks. Never heard of it - have any of you been on this? It's to stop ovulation.

I've also got to pay for a prescription of metformin, and take 3 tablets a day, until early pregnancy. Can't remember what these are for?

Anyone know?

I'm having surgery to have a TAC stitch fitted via a cut in my abdomen in a couple of weeks time to prevent preterm labour if I do get pregnant as I only have a very short cervix left (due to a cone biopsy).

Once I'm recovered I can start ivf properly in October I think! Anxious and excited x

I was out on meterformin and still am,

I got them from sainsbury savacentre at hemple Hempstead onwah back cost me £11 (I swear it was priced wrong) I was out on them due to my levels being high and there meant to reduce them. Did they explain to start off on 1 then 2 then 3, there not the nicest of tablets until they settle,

Lost of appetite, upset tummy, sickness. That's why it's best to ease you in,

I was on short protocol too,

menopur

Then menopur and and cetrodcide

Together,

Then trigger was gonasi,

Don't forget to keep on with your folic acid.

Wow you've finally got a potential date I bet your over the moon, there lovely there are they, did you see Judy?

Good luck with your op

I'll be on menopur too! Yes saw Judy but not met any nurses yet, she was nice. She explained the one a day for a week, then two then three for the metformin. As my AMH is slightly high at 31, I think metformin will help with not getting OHSS and stopping ovulating. It was a lot to take in! Got to wait for my nurse appointment now and do lots more paperwork x

Same reason as me I was high risk of ohss. I had extra scans, and EC brought forward, I did have slighty swollen ovaries at ET,

I didn't meat the nurses till injection teaching and then scans but they was all lovely.

Yes defiantly lots to take in, they write to you your plan your received that once your nurse has called you,

Yeah lots of paperwork to sign and fill in,

Mine was worst the first week, and then when I double the evening one also made me feel ergh, so I stayed on 2 for an extra week, and waiting for the long weekend to go to 3 just incase,

But I'm all good on them at the moment, say not everyone gets the side affects, so hopefully your be ok cx

How exciting! We had our consultation today. I'll be on the long protocol and should be able to start next week. X
