We went to see the consultant today today. He plans to put me on the antagonist protocol? Has anyone any info or experienced this? Apparently I'll be on maximum amount of drugs 😣

I recently finished the antagonist protocol...basically you're on the maximum dosage, for a shorter period of time. My ovary (I only have one that works) responded really well, and we got 16 eggs! X x

Hi Graceface, I hope you don't mind me asking but what meds/dosage were you on and for how long. I only ask as I think this could be what I'm starting next week. I also have one ovary and have been advised I'll be starting x4 vials of 75 menopur per shot.

No problem, ask away. My cycle was 14 days long, but I had different meds. I took Gonal F alone for the first 4 days, and then injected Cetrotide as well x x

That's wonderful news! How were you on the medication? I'm worried about going a little crazy 😅

It wasn't as bad as I'd expected it to be. The Gonal F gave me headaches and slight nausea, but only for the first day or two. The Cetrotide made me woozy all the way through though. I'd deliberately take that one at night, so it was less of an issue. It's probably worth me mentioning though that my concentration was shot. If you have any big jobs coming up at work that require you to focus, try to get them done before you start your meds x x

Hi Amberwell5. The aim of using an antagonist is that by not suppressing (down regulating) your ovaries with nasal spray, the stimulation injections work with your own hormones and then the antagonist just stops you ovulating before egg collection. The benefit of using this type of drug is that an antagonist cycle means all the drugs are usually given within a 2 week period of time so it ends up as a shorter process. Hope this helps and good luck. Diane
